Amazon introduced a package of AI-powered “Prime Insights” for the 2025 Thursday Night Football (TNF) season, announced on September 9, 2025. The additions primarily appear in Prime Vision with Next Gen Stats, an alternate Prime Video feed rather than the ordinary broadcast. Prime Video still carries TNF in 2026, but Amazon’s announcement does not independently confirm that every 2025 feature remains in every 2026 game.
What Amazon announced
Prime Insights combines broadcast graphics, NFL tracking data, machine learning and computer vision to add context during live games. Amazon says producers, engineers, analysts, former NFL players and AI specialists work together on the presentation, with AWS providing AI capabilities and infrastructure. The system supplements human commentary; it does not replace the announcers.
The four additions announced for 2025 were Pocket Health, Field Goal Target Zones, Key Moments and Rapid Recap. Defensive Alerts and Coverage ID returned from earlier Prime Vision presentations.
The four features introduced for the 2025 season
Pocket Health
Pocket Health uses an Amazon-developed AI model to analyze activity across the offensive line and visualize threats affecting quarterback protection. It can also add fourth-down context, such as whether field position and game conditions support an analytically favorable decision to go for it. That is decision-support information, not a play call or a promise that the conversion will succeed.

Field Goal Target Zones
Target Zones place several lines or zones on the field to show the estimated chance of a successful field goal from different locations. The graphic is most useful when a team is deciding whether to gain more yards late in a half or game. It represents a modeled probability, not an official NFL ruling, a required aim point or a guaranteed make.
Key Moments
Key Moments automatically builds a collection of pivotal plays as the game progresses. Viewers can open those selected moments during the live stream instead of waiting for halftime or a postgame package. “On demand” means access to the assembled highlights while the event is live; it does not mean unrestricted replay of every snap.
Rapid Recap
Rapid Recap is for someone who joins after kickoff, returns from an interruption or switches from another program. After the viewer selects Watch, Prime Video uses AI to assemble an edited summary of earlier action, with upgraded transitions, lasting no longer than two minutes before returning to the live game. The recap may leave out penalties, injuries or quieter drives that a human editor might emphasize.

Returning Prime Insights
Defensive Alerts
Defensive Alerts tracks movement before the snap and identifies defenders who appear likely to rush the quarterback. A highlighted player may drop into coverage instead, so the alert indicates a possibility rather than proving that a blitz will occur.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Coverage ID
Coverage ID helps viewers interpret defensive alignments and assignments, making concepts such as zone and man coverage easier to follow. As with other live tracking graphics, unusual rotations, scrambles, crowded formations or corrected data can affect what appears on screen.
Prime Vision versus the normal TNF broadcast
The standard TNF feed remains a conventional play-by-play production with selected statistics and graphics. Prime Vision with Next Gen Stats is a separate alternate stream where Amazon can experiment with camera angles, tracking data and AI visualizations. Amazon describes Prime Vision as a laboratory for ideas that might eventually move into the main presentation.

Because it is an alternate production, an overlay may not appear in every game, on every play or at the same moment on every device. Production choices, matchup, data availability and regional or platform restrictions can change the experience.
How to find the features
- Open Prime Video on a supported device during a live TNF game.
- Select the live NFL game.
- Open the game’s alternate-broadcast or viewing-options selector.
- Choose Prime Vision with Next Gen Stats when it is offered.
- Watch for Prime Insights graphics and use any available highlight or recap controls.
Amazon has not published one universal button-by-button path for every television, browser, phone, tablet, console or streaming box. Labels and placement can differ by app version, platform, country and game. If Prime Vision is missing, exit and reopen the stream, check the alternate-feed selector, update Prime Video and try a supported browser or device. The feature may simply not be enabled for that event.
What the AI can—and cannot—tell you
- It estimates: probabilities, threat levels and likely outcomes derived from available tracking and game data.
- It does not understand football like a person: “AI-powered” covers analytics, computer vision and automated selection, not independent human-like judgment.
- It is not deterministic: a target zone does not ensure a made kick, and a defensive alert does not ensure a rush.
- Data can change: player identification, coverage, routes or outcomes may be corrected after a live play, especially when penalties nullify action or formations become unusual.
Amazon’s public material supports describing the package as AI-powered and AWS-enabled. It does not identify a specific generative-AI foundation model for each graphic, so calling every element “generative AI” would be inaccurate.

Who benefits from Prime Vision?
| Viewer | Potential benefit | Possible drawback |
|---|---|---|
| New or casual fan | Coverage IDs and defensive alerts explain tactics that the main feed may leave implicit. | Several overlays at once can be difficult to read during a fast play. |
| Analytics-minded fan | Pocket protection, field-position probabilities and tracking add situational detail. | Modeled probabilities can be mistaken for certainty. |
| Viewer arriving late | Rapid Recap can provide a short orientation before the live action. | A two-minute automated summary cannot include every important development. |
| Viewer who missed a play | Key Moments offers quick access to major events during the game. | It is a curated set, not a full replay library. |
| Traditional-broadcast fan | The regular feed keeps the familiar presentation. | Prime Vision’s extra camera angles and graphics may feel distracting. |
What is confirmed for the 2026 season?
Amazon’s 2026 live-sports information lists 17 exclusive NFL games for U.S. Prime members, including Thursday Night Football, Black Friday and a Wild Card game: Amazon Ads’ live-sports page. Amazon Ads also reports an average 15.3 million P2+ viewers for the 2025 TNF season; that is an Amazon-reported advertising figure.
Those facts confirm continuing NFL coverage, not feature-by-feature continuity. The September 9, 2025 announcement establishes when Pocket Health, Field Goal Target Zones, Key Moments and Rapid Recap were introduced. Check the game interface or a newer Amazon announcement for confirmation of their availability in a particular 2026 broadcast.

In the United States, Amazon describes live sports including TNF as included with Prime membership. An Amazon Prime information page lists a price signal of $14.99 per month or $139 per year, but the page is not a dedicated pricing notice; verify the current checkout price, promotions, student eligibility and regional terms at Amazon Prime.

You can generally watch through an existing compatible smart-TV app, streaming box, game console, phone, tablet or web browser. Fire TV is an optional convenience or performance upgrade, not a documented requirement for Prime Vision. Amazon’s feature announcement does not establish that a particular Fire TV model unlocks overlays unavailable elsewhere; see Amazon Fire TV devices for current hardware options.
Why Amazon is investing in these graphics
For viewers, Prime Insights make a live game more interactive and can lower the learning curve for complex tactics. For Amazon, the alternate feed differentiates Prime Video’s sports product and creates a more data-rich environment around a major live event. Amazon Ads promotes interactive video ads, audience-based creative, live-event remarketing and Amazon Marketing Cloud alongside its sports inventory. Those advertising offerings are aimed at brands, not a separate consumer AI subscription, and Amazon does not publish a general rate card on the cited page.
Common problems and fixes
Prime Vision is not listed
You may have opened the standard feed, the game may not carry the alternate production, your app may be outdated, or the option may not be supported in your location or on that device. Reopen the game selector, update Prime Video and try another supported device or browser.
Rapid Recap does not appear
The prompt may be limited to certain late-entry situations and can vary by platform. Joining at a different point in the game does not guarantee that the recap control will be shown.
Recommended Free Tools
A graphic appears incorrect
Live tracking can be revised. Crowded formations, defensive rotations, scrambles, penalties and nullified plays are situations in which an initial identification or projection may need correction.
Bottom line
Amazon’s meaningful change was the 2025 introduction of Prime Insights inside its Prime Vision alternate TNF feed. Pocket Health, Field Goal Target Zones, Key Moments and Rapid Recap add useful context for curious or late-arriving viewers, while Defensive Alerts and Coverage ID continue the earlier approach. They are probabilistic tools layered onto a human-led broadcast—not guaranteed predictions—and their presence in a specific 2026 game should be verified rather than assumed.
