Prime Video reportedly removed an experimental audio track labeled “English [AI beta]” for No Game No Life: Zero after viewers and voice actors criticized its quality and the use of synthetic performances. The incident involved a dub option—not a new anime series, sequel, or confirmed removal of the film itself.
What Amazon removed
The disputed item was an English-language audio track for No Game No Life: Zero, a 2017 prequel film in the No Game No Life franchise. Prime Video users reported seeing an option labeled “English [AI beta]” in late November or early December 2025. Reports subsequently said that the track disappeared.

Which anime titles were involved?
Coverage connected the experiment with several Prime Video titles:
- No Game No Life: Zero — an English track labeled as an AI beta option.
- Banana Fish — an AI English dub that drew particularly strong criticism.

Why fans and voice actors objected

Why No Game No Life: Zero was an especially controversial test
The film already had an official English dub produced with human voice actors by Sentai Filmworks. That made the experiment harder to justify as a way of expanding access to a title that otherwise would have remained undubbed.
Amazon announced an AI-assisted dubbing initiative in March 2025, describing it as a way to help localize licensed films and series that would not otherwise receive dubs. Did the rights holders approve the AI dub?
Reported statements from rights holders raised further questions. Kadokawa said that an AI dub had not been approved “in any form.” Sentai Filmworks reportedly said it was not aware of the AI dub in advance and was investigating the matter with Amazon. (GamesRadar)
Those statements indicate that the companies said they had not approved or been informed about the tracks. They do not, by themselves, prove that Amazon breached a contract, violated copyright law, or acted unlawfully. The public reporting reviewed here does not establish what permissions existed under Amazon’s licensing agreements.
AI-assisted dubbing is not necessarily fully synthetic dubbing
“AI-assisted dubbing” can describe tools used for translation, dialogue timing, cleanup, or lip synchronization while human actors still perform the lines. “AI-generated dubbing” generally refers to synthetic voices producing the spoken performances.
The Prime Video label identified the tracks as an “AI beta,” but that label did not disclose which parts of the workflow involved artificial intelligence. There is no confirmed public information here about the translation process, voice model, mixing, performer consent, or whether any voices were cloned. Those details should not be inferred from the label alone.

The tracks disappeared shortly after criticism intensified, but the reporting reviewed for this article did not provide a substantive Amazon explanation for the removal. It does not confirm whether the tracks were pulled because of audience backlash, technical problems, rights concerns, an internal beta decision, or some combination of factors.
There is also no confirmed evidence that Amazon has permanently abandoned AI dubbing. A later report discussed a Prime Video job listing seeking leadership for an AI-enabled dubbing platform, but the listing was reportedly deleted. As of the December 2025 reports, the best-supported description is straightforward: Amazon briefly offered and then removed an AI-labeled English dub of No Game No Life: Zero amid substantial criticism. The episode was a withdrawn localization experiment—not a new animated installment and not confirmed evidence that the franchise itself had been removed or canceled.
