The Last of Us Season 1, Episode 3 is “Long, Long Time,” and the available Amazon listing shows it as a separate episode—not as a title generally removed from the series. If Prime Video says “This video is currently unavailable,” the cause is more likely to be subscription access, a regional catalog difference, a temporary listing issue, or the app or device. First check the full Season 1 episode list and the access label before paying for the episode again.
Make sure you have the right episode
The episode in question is Season 1, Episode 3, “Long, Long Time”, with a runtime of about 75 minutes. It originally premiered in the United States on January 29, 2023; a listing may show January 28 because of regional time-zone metadata. Amazon’s Season 1 listing identifies the episode.
Open the main The Last of Us series page, select Season 1, and find “Long, Long Time.” Do not rely only on a Continue Watching row or a search result for “Episode 3”: the title page can include multiple seasons and bonus videos. Season 2, Episode 3 is “The Path,” while “Inside” and “Making” entries are related extras, not the Season 1 episode.

Prime membership is not the same as an HBO/Max subscription
A Prime membership does not automatically include every premium channel or HBO title. Depending on your country and account, you may need an active HBO/Max subscription through Prime Video Channels, a separate subscription that you watch in the Max or HBO Max app, or a separate episode or season purchase. Amazon’s series page presents channel access and purchase options separately. Check the episode’s own access label and your existing subscriptions before buying anything.

The channel listing or entitlement may not be in sync
Amazon Channel access depends on the channel subscription and Amazon’s catalog listing. Around the episode’s 2023 release, viewers reported that it was temporarily unavailable through HBO access bought via Prime Video, while it was accessible through HBO/Max or appeared later. These are historical community reports, not an official outage notice or a promise about release timing. A “currently unavailable” message by itself does not prove the episode was removed.
Availability can differ by country and account
Streaming catalogs and channel options depend on territory, licensing, billing region, and the service used to subscribe. U.S. release information may not apply elsewhere, and localized Amazon listings can differ. If the message says the video is not available in your location, treat that as a regional availability issue rather than an app-cache problem.

The app, device, or account may be the problem
A stale listing, sign-in issue, or device-specific app fault can make one episode fail while other content works. If other episodes play but this one does not, compare the full series page and try another device before concluding the episode is missing from the service.

Fix it in this order
- Open the full series page. Search for The Last of Us in Prime Video, open the main series listing, choose Season 1, and select “Long, Long Time.” Max’s missing-episode guidance likewise recommends checking the series’ season and episode list.
- Read the access label. “Watch now” or “Included” suggests your account should have access, so test the app and device. “Start subscription” or “Free trial” indicates premium-channel access is required. “Buy episode” is a separate transaction. “Currently unavailable” can point to a listing, territory, or entitlement issue; it is not confirmation of permanent removal.
- Verify which account and subscription you are using. Check that the HBO/Max channel is active, payment is current, and it is attached to the same Amazon account open in Prime Video. Confirm that the subscription is available in your country and includes the show. If you subscribed directly to Max rather than through Amazon, a Prime Video account may not have that entitlement.
- Try Prime Video in a browser. Sign in to the same Amazon account and open the series page. If the episode plays in the browser but not on your TV, the problem is more likely the TV app or device. If it fails in both places, investigate account access, territory, or catalog availability.
- Update, close, and restart. Check the device’s app store for a Prime Video update. Force-close the app, restart the device, reopen Prime Video, and sign out and back in if needed. Max’s guidance also recommends updating the app and trying another device for missing-episode problems.
- Test another device or app. If your Amazon-billed subscription offers provider authentication in the Max or HBO Max app, try signing in there and selecting Amazon as the provider. This option varies by territory and current app; it is a diagnostic alternative, not a guaranteed feature. If the episode works there but not through Prime Video, the Amazon Channel listing or playback path is the likely point of failure.
- Clear app data only if appropriate. For the Max app, Max documents cache or data troubleshooting for Android and certain Amazon Fire devices. Menu names vary. Clearing data can sign you out or remove local settings, and it cannot fix an expired subscription, regional restriction, or missing Amazon entitlement.
- Record the exact message before contacting support. A screenshot, the device and app used, your country, and whether other episodes play will help identify the issue. Max advises recording the on-screen error when troubleshooting its app; see its app troubleshooting guidance.
Choose the right way to watch
- Keep using Prime Video Channels if the Amazon-billed HBO/Max channel is active and you prefer consolidated billing. If only this episode fails, report the specific episode and error to Amazon rather than starting a second subscription immediately.
- Use Max or HBO Max directly if you already have a direct subscription, or if your Amazon-billed channel supports provider sign-in. App name, authentication, catalog, and availability depend on country and subscription arrangement.
- Buy the episode or season if you want a one-off purchase and subscription access is not the right option. Amazon’s listing has shown an individual HD purchase option; any displayed price and availability can change by date and territory. Check that you are not already entitled to watch it before paying. Compare the season price with the total cost of individual episodes if you plan to watch the whole season.
Do not start a trial or purchase the episode simply to bypass an error until you have checked whether your existing subscription already includes it. That can result in duplicate billing or an unnecessary purchase.

Who should you contact?
Contact Amazon Prime Video support if the episode is missing or fails in Prime Video, your active Amazon Channel subscription does not appear to grant access, or you paid for the episode and cannot play it. Contact Max support if it is missing or failing inside the Max app, especially if other Max titles also have problems. If the episode works in one service but not the other, tell the support team which service works and provide the exact error from the one that fails.
If only “Long, Long Time” is affected, ask support to check the Season 1 Episode 3 listing and your entitlement. If all titles fail, check the account, payment status, device, and service before treating it as an episode-specific catalog problem.
