Amazon’s U.S. Prime Video lineup for August 2025 ranged from the heist comedy The Pickup and spy series Butterfly to sports documentaries, returning shows, live football and a sizable batch of licensed films. The standout for documentary viewers is Taurasi, a three-part portrait of basketball legend Diana Taurasi; Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues looks at a football club and Tom Brady’s ownership role.
The dates below are those in Amazon’s published August schedule for the United States. It mixes Originals and exclusives with licensed catalog titles and ongoing programming. It is not a worldwide list, and a title’s appearance in the schedule does not guarantee it is still available or included with Prime today.

The August highlights worth a closer look
The Pickup — August 6
This Original action-comedy stars Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson and Keke Palmer as mismatched armored-truck drivers caught in an ambush led by a criminal mastermind. It is the month’s clearest mainstream film premiere: a broad, star-led choice for viewers after a lighter alternative to the month’s thrillers and dramas.
Taurasi — August 7
This three-part documentary follows WNBA legend Diana Taurasi and her career, including achievements in the NCAA, WNBA, Olympics and EuroLeague. Its compact, three-part format makes it a focused pick for basketball fans and viewers interested in the arc of an elite athlete’s career.

Butterfly — August 13
Daniel Dae Kim stars in this scripted spy-thriller series. Amazon’s August announcement confirms its date and genre, but offers limited detail about the story; viewers looking for a new serialized thriller can start here without expecting a full-season synopsis from the schedule.
Betty la Fea: La Historia Continúa, Season 2 — August 15
The Colombian continuation series returns with Ana María Orozco. It is a major option in the month’s Spanish-language lineup, especially for viewers who have followed the original story and its continuation.

The Map That Leads to You — August 20
This romantic drama adapts J.P. Monninger’s novel. Directed by Lasse Hallström and starring Madelyn Cline and K.J. Apa, it follows a European trip that takes a turn when its protagonist meets a mysterious traveler.

Sausage Party: Foodtopia Season 2 arrived August 13. The Siege at Thorn High, an MGM dystopian film, and Season 2 of Betty la Fea: La Historia Continúa arrived August 15. The Summer I Turned Pretty and Countdown also had new episodes scheduled during the month; check the series pages for episode dates.
Best catalog additions for a binge or a rewatch
- Hannibal Seasons 1–3 (August 30): a complete three-season addition for viewers wanting a longer thriller binge.
- 30 Rock Seasons 1–7 (August 1): the full run of the comedy series arrived at the start of the month.
- Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (August 2): a recent franchise entry among the month’s early film additions.
- Creed (August 16): a sports drama catalog pick.
- Wolf Man (August 22): a horror option late in the month.
- The Intern (August 22): a comedy-drama addition.
- Last Breath (August 29): another late-month film arrival.
- Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Transformers: Dark of the Moon (August 1): three franchise films in the opening-day batch.
The first of August was especially dense: alongside the titles above, Amazon listed films such as Death Becomes Her, Howard the Duck, Uptown Girls and Wrath of Man, as well as several older catalog movies. The range makes August 1 useful for browsing, but these are licensed additions, not newly produced Amazon Originals.

Does “on Prime Video” mean included with Prime?
Not necessarily. Amazon’s monthly guide combines Originals and exclusives with licensed titles, live programming and continuing episodes; the listing alone does not establish that every title is included in a standard Prime membership, available in every territory, or still in the catalog. On the title page, look for the “Included with Prime” or Prime badge. If it instead offers rent or buy, requires a channel, or is unavailable in your region, the monthly listing does not override that status. Availability can also change after a title’s announced arrival.
