Netflix’s January 2025 U.S. lineup combined a remarkably large January 1 movie drop with major originals and returning series later in the month. The headline releases were American Primeval on January 9, XO, Kitty Season 2 on January 16, Back in Action on January 17, The Night Agent Season 2 on January 23, and The Recruit Season 2 on January 30.
This is a retrospective U.S. release guide. It includes Netflix originals, returning seasons, licensed catalog movies, international programs, anime, specials, games, and weekly or live programming that appeared on Netflix during January 2025. A title being added to Netflix did not necessarily mean it was a new Netflix production.
January 2025’s biggest Netflix releases
For viewers looking for the month’s most recognizable Netflix premieres, these were the key dates:
| Date | Release | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| January 9 | American Primeval | A six-episode limited series set in the American West in 1857, amid violent conflict between cultures and communities. |
| January 16 | XO, Kitty Season 2 | Kitty returned to the Korean Independent School of Seoul for another season of romantic and school drama. |
| January 17 | Back in Action | Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz played former spies who were drawn back into espionage after building a family life. |
| January 23 | The Night Agent Season 2 | The conspiracy thriller returned with a new season. |
| January 30 | The Recruit Season 2 | Noah Centineo’s CIA-centered spy drama returned for its second season. |
January 1 was the month’s other major event. Netflix added a deep selection of licensed movies, including Apollo 13, Inception, Interstellar, Love Actually, Schindler’s List, the original Spider-Man trilogy, and all three Rush Hour movies.

What was weekly, live, or episodic rather than a full-season drop?
Not every entry in a Netflix monthly list represents a complete season or a single film released all at once. January’s schedule included several staggered releases:
Rank #2
- Ultra-speedy streaming: Roku Ultra is 30% faster than any other Roku player, delivering a lightning-fast interface and apps that launch in a snap.
- Cinematic streaming: This TV streaming device brings the movie theater to your living room with spectacular 4K, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision picture alongside immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.
- No more fumbling in the dark: See what you’re pressing with backlit buttons.
- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
- When the Stars Gossip began releasing weekly on January 4.
- WWE Raw launched its live weekly Netflix run on January 6.
- Baban Baban Ban Vampire and SAKAMOTO DAYS started weekly anime releases on January 11.
- New episodes of Chef & My Fridge arrived on January 12.
- The Love Is Blind: Germany reunion arrived on January 19, separate from the season’s initial episodes.
- New episodes of Who Saw the Peacock Dance in the Jungle? arrived on January 25.
- Winter Kiss was a Netflix Stories game episode connected to Love Is Blind, not a conventional television episode.
The January schedule change: With Love, Meghan
Some early January release calendars listed With Love, Meghan for January 15. That listing was subsequently marked as delayed to March 2025. It therefore should not be counted as a January 2025 U.S. release, even though an earlier version of the schedule may show the January date.
How to use this calendar
For a movie-focused watchlist, January 1 offered the broadest selection, from Inception, Interstellar, and Schindler’s List to Love Actually, the Rush Hour trilogy, and the Spider-Man trilogy. For Netflix’s most prominent original programming, the useful checkpoints were January 9, 16, 17, 23, and 30.

- Compact without compromises: The sleek design of Roku Streaming Stick won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, and it even powers from your TV alone, plugging into the back and staying out of sight. No wall outlet, no extra cords, no clutter.
- No more juggling remotes: Power up your TV, adjust the volume, and control your Roku device with one remote. Use your voice to quickly search, play entertainment, and more.
- Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
Viewers following a particular international or anime title needed to pay attention to the release pattern rather than simply the month. Several programs arrived weekly, while others were complete seasons, limited series, films, specials, or catalog acquisitions.
U.S. availability matters
This calendar describes the U.S. Netflix schedule, not a worldwide release list. Netflix’s catalog is not identical in every country, and a movie or series available in the United States may be absent elsewhere or appear on a different date. Gift-card availability, payment methods, and denominations also vary by country.

Did these Netflix releases apply worldwide?
No. This was a U.S. release schedule. Netflix’s catalog and release dates vary by country, particularly for licensed movies and international programming.
Were all of the January 2025 additions Netflix originals?
No. The month included Netflix originals and returning Netflix series, but also licensed catalog movies such as Apollo 13, Inception, Interstellar, Love Actually, and the Spider-Man trilogy.
Which January 2025 titles were released weekly or live?
When the Stars Gossip, Baban Baban Ban Vampire, and SAKAMOTO DAYS began weekly rollouts. WWE Raw began its live weekly run, and Netflix also added new episodes of Chef & My Fridge and Who Saw the Peacock Dance in the Jungle? during the month.
The Bottom Line
January 2025 was strongest for viewers who wanted either a deep January 1 movie refresh or a concentrated run of returning Netflix series: American Primeval, XO, Kitty Season 2, Back in Action, The Night Agent Season 2, and The Recruit Season 2 formed the month’s clearest headline releases. Because this was a U.S. schedule containing licensed and staggered releases, the dates should be read as a historical catalog guide rather than a worldwide or permanently current availability list.
