Bleach’s major anime-original arcs, in broadcast order, are Bount (episodes 64–109), New Captain Shūsuke Amagai (168–189), Zanpakutō: The Alternate Tale and its Beast Swords section (230–265), and the Gotei 13 Invading Army (317–342). These episode numbers follow the original television anime. “Chronological” here means episode sequence, not a separate in-world timeline.

Bleach filler arcs in order

The broad groupings below are the most useful way to identify the large anime-original story blocks. Naming and boundaries vary between episode lists and filler guides, especially when a continuation is treated as either a separate arc or part of a larger story.

Broad storyline Episodes How guides commonly divide it
Bount 64–109 Bount (64–91), followed by Bount Assault on Soul Society (92–109)
New Captain Shūsuke Amagai 168–189 Usually listed as one standalone anime-original arc
Zanpakutō: The Alternate Tale 230–265 Zanpakutō: The Alternate Tale/Unknown Tales (230–254), followed by Beast Swords (255–265)
Gotei 13 Invading Army 317–342 Usually listed as one anime-original storyline

These are the major blocks, not a complete list of every skippable episode. Bleach also contains isolated filler episodes and episodes that mix anime-original material with the ongoing adapted plot.

1. Bount — episodes 64–109

Bount — episodes 64–91

The Bount storyline begins immediately after episode 63 and introduces the Bount conflict as an anime-original continuation. A guide may label this first section simply “The Bount.”

Bount Assault on Soul Society — episodes 92–109

This is the continuation of the same storyline, with the conflict moving into Soul Society. Some watch lists count episodes 64–109 as one Bount arc; others separate the first 28 episodes from this 18-episode continuation.

2. New Captain Shūsuke Amagai — episodes 168–189

This standalone anime-original arc follows the Bount material and precedes the return to the manga-adapted storyline. Its usual episode range is 168 through 189. Because it is not required for the adapted main plot, a main-plot-only viewer can move from episode 167 to episode 190, while a complete-anime viewer should watch it in broadcast order.

3. Zanpakutō: The Alternate Tale and Beast Swords — episodes 230–265

Zanpakutō: The Alternate Tale/Unknown Tales — episodes 230–254

This anime-original story centers on zanpakutō spirits and is commonly listed under titles such as “Zanpakutō: The Alternate Tale” or “Unknown Tales.”

Beast Swords — episodes 255–265

Beast Swords is generally treated as the concluding section or sub-arc of the Zanpakutō storyline. Some filler lists extend the label through episode 266, but season episode listings place the anime-original run at episode 265 and begin the next season at episode 266. For episode-order purposes, use 255–265.

4. Gotei 13 Invading Army — episodes 317–342

The Gotei 13 Invading Army is the final major anime-original block in the original television run before the Lost Substitute Shinigami arc. Its standard range is episodes 317–342.

Can you skip Bleach filler arcs?

If your goal is only the manga-adapted main plot, the major anime-original blocks can be skipped. A filler guide gives these transition points:

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 2 Standard Edition (Blu-ray)
  • Weight (Approximate): 0.23

  • Watch through episode 63, then resume at episode 110.
  • Watch through episode 167, then resume at episode 190.
  • Watch through episode 227, then resume at episode 267.
  • Watch through episode 310, then resume at episode 343.

Those jumps remove the major blocks listed above, but they are not a complete no-filler order. Standalone filler and mixed episodes occur outside the large arcs, so viewers who want to skip every anime-original installment need an episode-by-episode guide rather than an arc-only list.

Are these episodes part of Bleach’s main story?

The arcs listed here are anime-original storylines and are not required to follow the manga-adapted plot, according to the cited filler guide. They were produced for the television anime, so watching them preserves the original broadcast experience but may interrupt the pacing of the adapted storyline.

Why do filler lists disagree?

There is no single universal naming taxonomy. One episode listing separates the Bount and Bount Assault on Soul Society seasons and places the Zanpakutō anime-original run at episodes 230–265. A filler-specific guide splits those same stretches into sub-arcs and may assign a slightly different endpoint to Beast Swords. The safest practice is to rely on episode numbers and treat related labels as alternate groupings.

How many Bleach filler episodes are there?

BleachFillerList.co states a total of 163 filler episodes under its classification. That is the guide’s count, not an independently verified universal total: totals change when lists classify mixed or arc-adjacent episodes differently. The four major blocks above therefore should not be mistaken for a complete count of all filler episodes.

Should you watch the filler?

There is no objective “worth watching” verdict. Skip the blocks if you want the fastest route through the adapted plot. Watch them if you want the full television-anime run, additional anime-original conflicts, or the experience in its original broadcast sequence. Keep in mind that the major arcs are long enough to change the series’ pacing, while isolated filler episodes require separate decisions.
