Danny Fujikawa is Kate Hudson’s longtime fiancé, the father of her youngest child, and a musician associated with the band Chief. They began dating in 2016, welcomed daughter Rani Rose in October 2018, and announced their engagement on September 13, 2021.
The “drummer” label sometimes used for Fujikawa needs a qualification: available lineup information identifies him with guitar and his brother Michael Fujikawa with drums. “Musician Danny Fujikawa” is the more precise description.

Danny Fujikawa is Kate Hudson’s longtime fiancé, the father of her youngest child, and a musician associated with the Los Angeles indie-rock band Chief. The couple began dating in 2016, welcomed their daughter Rani Rose in October 2018, and announced their engagement on September 13, 2021.
Although Fujikawa is sometimes described in headlines as a drummer, the strongest available lineup information identifies him with guitar in Chief and lists his brother Michael Fujikawa as the band’s drummer. “Musician Danny Fujikawa” is therefore the more precise description unless a primary source confirms that he also performed as a drummer.

Who is Danny Fujikawa?
Fujikawa is an American musician who became widely known outside the music world through his relationship with Hudson. His most relevant professional credit is his association with Chief, an indie-rock group connected to Los Angeles and featuring the Fujikawa brothers.
Chief released the album Modern Rituals through Domino Records in 2010. The band’s documented lineup places Danny Fujikawa on guitar and Michael Fujikawa on drums. That distinction matters because celebrity profiles frequently repeat the “drummer” label without clarifying which brother played drums.
Fujikawa’s music career predates his relationship with Hudson’s public profile. He is not simply known as a celebrity fiancé: he has his own history as a band member and has also collaborated creatively with Hudson.
How did Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa meet?

Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa’s relationship timeline
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| Before 2016 | Hudson and Fujikawa knew each other through their shared connection to Sara and Erin Foster. |
| 2016 | Hudson and Fujikawa began dating. |
| October 2018 | They welcomed their daughter, Rani Rose. |
| September 13, 2021 | Hudson announced their engagement in a social-media post showing the couple kissing and displaying her engagement ring. |
| January 11, 2026 | The couple arrived together at the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, providing recent public evidence that they continued to appear as a couple. |
Are Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa married?
There was no reliable confirmation of a wedding or a definitive wedding date in the research available for this article. Hudson and Fujikawa should therefore be described as engaged, with Fujikawa as her fiancé—not as her husband.
Their engagement has lasted several years. Hudson has discussed wedding planning and the possibility of a long engagement, including reservations about the planning process and the idea that marriage is necessary for a successful partnership. Those comments should not be converted into a claim that a ceremony has taken place.
Their appearance together at the Golden Globes in January 2026 supports describing the relationship as ongoing. It does not, by itself, establish their legal marital status or prove that wedding plans are imminent.
Do Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa have children?
Hudson and Fujikawa share one child, their daughter Rani Rose, who was born in October 2018.
Hudson also has two older sons from previous relationships:
Rank #3
- Ryder Robinson, whose father is Hudson’s former husband, Chris Robinson.
- Bingham Bellamy, whose father is Hudson’s former fiancé, Matt Bellamy.
Rani is Fujikawa’s child with Hudson. Ryder and Bingham are part of Hudson’s broader blended family, but they are not Fujikawa’s children. Keeping that distinction clear avoids conflating Hudson’s family life with the couple’s shared child.
Danny Fujikawa’s music career and Chief
Chief is the central professional context for understanding Fujikawa’s career. The Los Angeles-connected indie-rock band included Danny and Michael Fujikawa and released Modern Rituals in 2010 through Domino Records.
Because the available band-member information assigns guitar to Danny and drums to Michael, the phrase “Chief musician” is safer than presenting Danny Fujikawa as the group’s confirmed drummer. He may be described as a musician associated with Chief, but the exact instrument should not be overstated.
For readers interested in the musical work behind his public profile, Modern Rituals by Chief is the most directly relevant album. Retail inventory, format, seller, and purchasing eligibility can change by country and should be checked before publication or purchase.
Have Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa worked together musically?
Yes. Their relationship also has a professional creative dimension. Biography.com reported that Hudson co-wrote her debut single, “Talk About Love,” with Fujikawa.
Rank #4
The collaboration is significant because it shows Fujikawa contributing to Hudson’s move into recorded music rather than appearing only in coverage about her personal life. It also provides a direct connection between his background as a working musician and Hudson’s own recording career.
Kate Hudson’s film career connection
Fujikawa is not involved in Hudson’s acting career, but Hudson’s filmography offers useful context for readers who know her primarily from the screen. One of her best-known early roles was Penny Lane in Almost Famous.
The Almost Famous DVD or Blu-ray is therefore a relevant Kate Hudson career item, but it should not be presented as a Danny Fujikawa product or as an engagement-related recommendation. Physical-media availability and formats vary by market.
What is known—and not known—about Danny Fujikawa?
| Claim | Careful wording |
|---|---|
| His relationship with Hudson | They began dating in 2016 and remained publicly associated through at least January 2026. |
| His engagement status | Hudson announced their engagement on September 13, 2021. |
| His marital status | No confirmed wedding or wedding date was established in the available research. |
| His music career | He is a musician associated with Chief and its 2010 album Modern Rituals. |
| His instrument | Available lineup evidence identifies Danny with guitar and his brother Michael with drums; calling him Chief’s drummer without further confirmation is not sufficiently supported. |
| His family with Hudson | He and Hudson share one daughter, Rani Rose. |
The bottom line on Danny Fujikawa
Danny Fujikawa is Kate Hudson’s longtime fiancé, the father of her youngest daughter, and a musician associated with Chief. Their relationship began in 2016, their daughter Rani Rose was born in 2018, and their engagement was announced in 2021. Public appearances, including the 83rd Golden Globe Awards in January 2026, indicate that they continued to present themselves publicly as a couple.
The most accurate profile avoids two common shortcuts: calling Fujikawa definitively a drummer when the available lineup evidence points to guitar, and calling him Hudson’s husband when no confirmed marriage was established. His own music career—particularly his connection to Chief—provides the clearest way to understand him beyond his relationship with Hudson.
