Did The Godfather, Part III win an Oscar?
Yes. At the 1991 ceremony, the film won one of its six nominations: Music (Original Song) for “Promise Me You’ll Remember,” with music by Carmine Coppola and lyrics by John Bettis.
Its other nominations were Best Picture, directing, cinematography, film editing and writing. Academy: 1991 ceremony.
Why do some counts say nine?
Nine is the combined win total for the first two films: three for The Godfather plus six for The Godfather Part II. A count covering all three theatrical films must include Part III’s original-song win, for a total of ten. The trilogy total is the sum of the Academy’s three film records, rather than a separate Academy-published trilogy tally.
