Alina Villasante says Peace Love World began not with a fashion-business plan, but with an annual gathering for women she loved. The uplifting gifts she made for those parties led her toward fashion; the values behind them, she says, became the brand’s foundation. In a 2023 interview with People en Español’s People Chica, she also connected her family’s move from Cuba to lessons in hard work, humility, and faith.
How the Love Party became a business idea
Villasante describes the Love Party as a personal tradition: she gathered the women in her life each year and gave them T-shirts, jewelry, and pajamas she had designed with symbols of peace, love, and happiness. She says the response encouraged her to pursue fashion as a business.
“I began an annual tradition of gathering all the women I love in my life for what I called the Love Party. I designed and gifted T-shirts, jewelry, and pajamas incorporating symbols of peace, love, and happiness.”
In her account, she started Peace Love World in 2009 after 17 years in the aviation industry. She recalls entering fashion with substantial inventory but without fashion-industry knowledge, relying instead on her passion for the idea. These dates and details are Villasante’s recollections in the interview, not independently verified career records.

Family history and the lessons she carried forward
Villasante says her parents left Cuba with nothing and began again while providing for their family. She describes their experience as a lasting example of persistence and of keeping light in difficult circumstances.
“My parents, my brothers, and myself as an infant lived a beautiful life in Cuba. When we left, my parents left with nothing and had to start life from scratch with our family to feed. It taught me that no job is too small or too big, hard work always pays off, [and] to stay humble and have faith.”

She connects those lessons to how she approaches work: no task is beneath her, effort matters, and humility and faith should accompany ambition. In the interview, this family history is the lens through which she explains her outlook, rather than a claim that one path to success works for every entrepreneur.
Peace, love, and happiness as the brand’s stated values
Villasante characterizes Peace Love World as an outward expression of what she values and feels about life. She says people look for connection to something larger than themselves and presents peace, love, and happiness as desires that cross religion, borders, and personal beliefs.
