Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman’s unusual connection was a WWE storyline, not a confirmed real-life romance. In 2018, WWE paired the contrasting performers as Team Little Big in its Mixed Match Challenge, then leaned into playful flirtation—including a near-kiss—before The Miz and Asuka eliminated them in the semifinals.
How Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman became Team Little Big
WWE announced Bliss and Strowman as the first team revealed for the 2018 Mixed Match Challenge. The pairing supplied an immediate contrast: Bliss was a compact, confident champion with a sharp tongue; Strowman was billed as the physically imposing “Monster Among Men.” WWE built comedy from that mismatch and from the way their characters interacted. WWE’s team announcement introduced the pairing that became known as Team Little Big.
What happened in the Mixed Match Challenge
January 30: Bliss and Strowman win their opener
Team Little Big defeated Sami Zayn and Becky Lynch in the first round. WWE’s match report kept the tone light, including a playful disagreement over which partner deserved credit for the winning strategy.
March 6: they advance past Jimmy Uso and Naomi
Bliss and Strowman beat Jimmy Uso and Naomi, a real-life married couple who were also presented as a team, to move on. WWE recorded the result in its March 6 report.

March 20: The Miz and Asuka end their run
The Miz and Asuka eliminated Team Little Big in the semifinals. During a lull in the match, Bliss was knocked from the apron into Strowman’s arms, setting up the comic near-kiss moment that made the pairing especially memorable. WWE’s semifinal report described the pause as a chance to “rekindle their perhaps-budding romance.” That phrasing was WWE narrating a fictional angle, not either performer describing a private relationship.
Why WWE played up the flirtation
The odd-couple dynamic gave both characters room to show a different side. Bliss could needle the imposing Strowman, while his intimidating persona could soften in scenes with her. In a contemporaneous TV Insider interview, Bliss discussed how working with Strowman let her show another dimension of her character and his. The flirtation was an extension of that on-screen contrast, not proof of an off-screen romance.

Were Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman actually together?
The cited WWE coverage establishes a playful, flirtatious storyline during the 2018 Mixed Match Challenge. It does not establish that Bliss and Strowman dated in real life. The near-kiss and WWE’s “perhaps-budding romance” wording explain why viewers remember them as a potential couple, but they belong to the performance and storytelling of the tournament.

In September 2018, WWE said Bliss was not cleared to compete after an arm injury and announced Ember Moon as Strowman’s replacement partner. The announcement explains her absence from that later scheduled appearance. It does not say why WWE did not continue the earlier flirtation storyline.
