Spoilers for Agatha All Along episode 5, “Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power.” Alice dies during Agatha’s trial, and the Teen is revealed as Billy Maximoff. The episode’s Ouija-board séance also brings Agatha face to face with her mother, while the Salem Seven close in on the coven.
What happens in Agatha All Along episode 5?
The coven’s latest stop on the Witches’ Road is an ’80s-style slasher sleepover house, where they find an Ouija board. The trial belongs to Agatha, but its rules put the whole group at risk: stay together, don’t talk over or taunt the spirits, don’t ask about death, say goodbye, and keep a hand on the planchette. The witches break most of them.
The Salem Seven reach the Road. A MarvelBlog recap describes them as descendants of witches Agatha killed in Salem and says they can take animal forms; the episode’s danger rises as they pursue the coven. The witches try to escape by broom, but the Road draws them toward the trial instead. Rio calls the Seven “a feral, hive-minded coven bent on revenge,” as quoted in that recap.
Who dies in episode 5?
Alice dies after intervening
During the séance, Agatha jokes by spelling “Mrs. Hart.” The board then identifies the spirit as Death and spells “PUNISH AGATHA!” When Agatha removes her hand from the planchette, the spirit of her mother, Evanora Harkness, enters the scene. Evanora possesses Agatha and berates her as evil, briefly exposing Agatha’s vulnerability to the other witches.

Alice intervenes when Evanora possesses Agatha again. Agatha siphons Alice’s magic and life force, and Alice dies. The episode’s action leaves Agatha’s intent unclear: she appears to drain Alice, but she also seems surprised afterward. It is not established here whether she consciously chose to kill Alice.
Who is the Teen?
The board points to Nicholas Scratch
The Teen asks the Ouija board, “Who are you?” It answers “Nicholas Scratch,” Agatha’s deceased son. Agatha then hears her son’s voice pleading, “Mama! Stop!”

The ending reveals Billy Maximoff
The Teen turns on the group, controlling Lilia and Jennifer and displaying a crown. The recap identifies him as Billy Maximoff, Wanda’s son. The crown is a visual clue to the reveal, which shifts the group’s balance of power: the Teen is no longer simply a vulnerable companion on the Road.

Three threats converge in the trial: the Salem Seven are hunting the coven, Evanora’s appearance exposes the damage in Agatha’s family history, and Alice’s death leaves the group with a new loss. Billy’s reveal then changes how the coven must understand the Teen’s place among them. The episode supplies the events, but Alice’s death does not settle whether Agatha intended to drain her.
