On June 10, ABC said it would not renew Moran’s agreement. “Fired” is shorthand: ABC’s public statement described the decision as a non-renewal at the end of the agreement.
What happened, and when?
- June 8, 2025: Moran posted on X shortly after midnight, according to Axios. ABC confirmed his suspension pending further evaluation. The post was later deleted.
- June 10, 2025: ABC announced it would not renew Moran’s agreement. CBS News reported that the announcement cited his post as a violation of ABC News policies.
Axios reported on ABC’s confirmation and the timing of the post. CBS News reported ABC’s non-renewal announcement and its earlier suspension statement.
What did Moran say about Trump and Stephen Miller?
Because the original post was deleted, its language is available here through reporting, not a live post readers can inspect. CBS News quoted Moran describing Miller as “richly endowed with the capacity for hatred” and “a world-class hater.” Moran wrote that Trump’s hatred was “only a means to an end, and that end [is] his own glorification.” The Associated Press also reported that Moran called Trump a world-class hater and described Miller’s hatreds as his “spiritual nourishment.”
CBS News reported the quoted wording from the post. The Associated Press also described its remarks about Trump and Miller.

Why did ABC News suspend Moran and decline to renew?
ABC’s suspension explanation
In its June 8 statement, ABC said: “ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others.” The network said Moran was suspended pending further evaluation.
ABC’s non-renewal explanation
On June 10, an ABC News spokesperson said: “We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post – which was a clear violation of ABC News policies – we have made the decision to not renew.” ABC added that it held reporters to the “highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism.”
Those are ABC’s stated reasons. The cited reports establish the network’s public explanation, not the details of private deliberations or whether outside pressure affected the decision. The spokesperson was not named in the quoted statements.
