Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw’s real-estate holdings have been estimated at at least $200 million, but that figure is not a verified appraisal. The reported properties range from a heavily reworked Pacific Palisades home and an East Hampton compound to a Manhattan apartment and an equestrian ranch; some other properties in the record have since been sold.
How much is Steven Spielberg’s real estate portfolio worth?
Celebrity Net Worth puts the couple’s real estate at at least $200 million, but it does not provide a formal appraisal or a transparent calculation of the total. The same page speculates that the Pacific Palisades compound alone could be worth $150 million to $250 million—a broad range, not a documented sale or independent valuation. Treat the portfolio figure as a secondary estimate, not a confirmed current value. Celebrity Net Worth
Published transaction figures offer firmer reference points, but they describe particular events rather than the value of everything the couple owns today. In particular, a listing price is an asking price, not evidence of a completed sale.
| Property or event | Reported figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Malibu parcels | $3.375 million; $3.2 million | Reported purchase prices for parcels bought in 1989 and 2000, respectively (Architectural Digest, 2023). |
| Malibu compound | $26 million | Reported off-market sale in 2015 (Architectural Digest, 2023). |
| East Hampton pond-front property | $20 million; $21.25 million | Reported purchase in 2008 and sale in 2014, respectively (Architectural Digest, 2023). |
| Dogwood equestrian ranch | $5.75 million | Reported 1999 purchase price (Los Angeles Times, 1999). |
| Dogwood equestrian ranch | $29.9 million | Asking price in a listing reported September 10, 2026; not a confirmed sale price (Realtor.com, 2026). |
Where does Steven Spielberg live?
Architectural Digest describes the Pacific Palisades property as Spielberg and Capshaw’s longtime primary residence. The house’s appeal is tied to its hillside site and location as much as to its size. Spielberg said he was drawn to “the site and the location of the property,” likening the discovery to finding “the perfect cove.” The property adjoins Will Rogers State Park. Architectural Digest

Pacific Palisades: a home reshaped over decades
Spielberg found the Spanish-style property in 1985 on a three-acre hillside. Architectural Digest reports that the original structure and earlier additions totaled about 10,000 square feet; Spielberg and architect Harry Newman reworked the house and doubled it to almost 20,000 square feet. The result is notable not only for its reported scale but for its varied spaces: a guesthouse, study, connecting spiral ramp, a television room with a hobbit theme, and a curved 14,000-gallon aquarium. A vineyard was added in 2013.
Spielberg described the renovation in a feature first published in the magazine’s May 1989 issue: “The only difference between redoing the house and making a film,” says Steven Spielberg, “is that I paid for it.” Architectural Digest

Does Steven Spielberg own a house in the Hamptons?
Architectural Digest reports a substantial East Hampton compound, but also documents a separate pond-front property that the couple sold. Those properties should not be conflated as though both were retained holdings.
East Hampton compound
The main building on the reported 3.9-acre compound began as an 18th-century Dutch barn and was later known in the family as Quelle Barn. Architect Charles Gwathmey designed a cedar-shingle guesthouse, followed by a second guesthouse, a garage with staff rooms above, and stables after Spielberg acquired additional land. The compound’s story is one of adaptation and expansion rather than a single purpose-built mansion. Architectural Digest

The separate pond-front property
In addition to the compound, the couple reportedly bought a three-acre East Hampton property on a pond for $20 million in 2008 and sold it for $21.25 million in 2014. Those are reported transaction prices, not current valuations.
What other properties are in the reported portfolio?
Manhattan: an apartment at the San Remo
Architectural Digest reports that Spielberg has a 6,000-square-foot apartment on the 17th floor of the San Remo, overlooking Central Park West. The publication does not establish the purchase date or price, so neither can be stated reliably here. Architectural Digest
Malibu: two parcels, later sold together
Architectural Digest reports that the couple bought one Malibu parcel for $3.375 million in 1989 and a second for $3.2 million in 2000. The two parcels together made up 1.41 acres, according to that account. The compound was sold off-market for $26 million in 2015, so it belongs in the portfolio’s history rather than a list of confirmed current holdings. Realtor.com’s later description gives somewhat different area and frontage details; lot measurements should therefore be understood as source-reported rather than merged into a single, supposedly exact figure. Dogwood: a specialized equestrian property
The Los Angeles Times reported that Spielberg bought a 2.8-acre Brentwood horse ranch in 1999 for $5.75 million. The report highlighted its horse ring and trail access. Realtor.com identified the property as Dogwood and reported it listed for $29.9 million on September 10, 2026. Its description includes a seven-bedroom main house, a six-stall barn, a second four-stall barn, and a 20,000-square-foot riding arena. That figure is a listing price, and listing status can change. Naples, Florida
Architectural Digest says the couple bought and sold properties in Naples, but the available account gives few details. It does not support a reliable property count or a more specific description of those homes.

The documented examples illustrate different uses and settings: a long-established hillside residence shaped by renovation, a converted barn compound in the Hamptons, a Central Park West apartment, and an equestrian ranch. They also include completed sales as well as a reported listing. But the sources do not establish a comprehensive current inventory, including properties potentially held through trusts or entities, or an independently verified total value. The $200 million figure is therefore best read as an estimate attached to a reported collection of properties, not a definitive balance sheet.
