What happened at the taco-pasta dinner?
In the televised breakup coverage of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, an argument over the seasoning and spiciness of taco pasta—including whether Liz’s daughter Riley should eat it—immediately preceded Ed ending the relationship and calling off the wedding. Ed said the fight made him realize they were fooling themselves and that the same arguments would keep happening. TV Insider’s April 22, 2024 recap presents the meal dispute as the on-screen trigger.
Why did Ed say he called off the wedding?
Ed later framed the dinner fight as evidence of a larger pattern, rather than a dispute about food alone. In an interview published June 3, 2024, he said, “A lot of the issues that Liz and I had, it comes down to communication.” He also said he had known three months earlier that the relationship would not work: “I just knew. It didn’t feel right.” Those statements describe Ed’s reasoning, not an independently established account of the relationship. TV Insider reported his explanation.
How did Liz describe the argument?
Liz told Entertainment Tonight that she was sticking up for her daughter. She said Ed had been expected to watch Riley while Liz took a real-estate test; when she returned, she described finding little help with cleaning and family members who were intoxicated. Liz said Ed called Riley a baby over the food and that she defended her daughter. As Liz put it, “My side of the story is basically, like, I started sticking up for myself to stick up for my daughter.” This is Liz’s account of the evening, not a neutral finding about what happened. How did Liz find out the wedding was cancelled?
The accounts also differ on how Ed communicated the cancellation. Ed recalled that he believed he had told Liz during the argument that the wedding was off, and said he was unhappy with how she ultimately found out. The televised recap says Liz learned the news through a message from their officiant. So, while Ed said he thought he had told her, Liz’s reported experience was that the officiant delivered the cancellation news.
Was the pasta fight the “real reason”?
It is most accurate to call the dinner dispute the immediate, televised trigger. Ed said it brought deeper communication and recurring-conflict problems into focus; Liz said the argument arose as she defended Riley amid a difficult evening. The available accounts do not prove that the pasta itself was the sole cause, or settle whose private interpretation is correct.
