80 Minutes of “Never-Before-Seen” Seinfeld Bloopers: What the Flea-Market Upload Shows

In September 2019, a Reddit user posting as MrJonLott said they had found an 80-minute DVD of Seinfeld bloopers at a Raynham flea market, ripped it, and uploaded the footage. Boing Boing (March 13, 2020) and BGR (March 2020) later reported on the upload. Every claim that makes the footage notable comes from the uploader. The coverage we reviewed does not show that a studio, network, rights holder, cast member or archivist has examined the disc or the footage, so “never-before-seen” is the uploader’s characterization, not an established fact.

What was reported

The discovery is a user report, not an authenticated archive release. The uploader described an unmarked disc in a homemade-looking case, found at a flea market, and an 80-minute rip made from it. The original Reddit post asked whether the material had been “made for the cast & crew?” That question is still open in the reporting. Boing Boing’s March 2020 story quoted the uploader directly, and BGR’s report followed later that month.

The uploader’s account, claim by claim

The table separates what the uploader says from what the 2019–2020 reporting independently establishes. In practice, almost everything in the right-hand column is unverified.

Claim Who made it, and when Status
An 80-minute disc was found at a Raynham flea market Uploader, Reddit post (September 2019); quoted by Boing Boing (March 13, 2020) Uploader’s account; not independently verified

Many clips are not on official Seinfeld DVD blooper reels Uploader Uploader’s claim; not checked against a catalog in the reporting

It may be a bootleg of a cast-and-crew blooper disc made in 1998 or 1999 Uploader’s speculation Conjecture; the existence of such a disc is not established
The collection was available on YouTube BGR (March 2020) Reported as of March 2020; not evidence of current availability
Seinfeld’s 180 episodes were planned for Netflix starting in 2021 BGR (March 2020) Dated announcement; not a statement of current streaming availability

The uploader’s words, as quoted

Boing Boing reproduced two sentences from the uploader. The first describes the find:

“The DVD was produced in 2000, which makes me think it’s a bootleg of a blooper DVD made for the cast and crew of Seinfeld in 1998 or 1999.”

Both are the uploader’s own words. Neither should be attributed to a cast member, NBC or an archivist.

Why the timeline does not settle itself

The quoted “2 years ago” and the September 2019 Reddit post cannot both be read as exact dates without a gap, so the date of the find is uncertain. The earliest dated record in the coverage is the 2019 post. The 2000 production date and the 1998–1999 origin both rest on the uploader’s account, and nothing in the reporting independently confirms either.

What the reporting does not establish

  • The quality of the footage, which is described only by the uploader.
  • Whether the clips are absent from official blooper reels. That comparison comes from the uploader’s memory and has not been published as a clip-by-clip check.
  • Any link between the disc and a cast-and-crew distribution run.
  • Whether the upload is still online or still matches what was reported in 2020.

Is the footage available today?

The only availability evidence in the coverage is from March 2020. Boing Boing and BGR both described the collection as available on YouTube at that time. Neither report establishes that the video is still live, and the upload may have been removed, re-posted or altered since. The Netflix plan mentioned by BGR was a 2020 announcement; it does not tell you what the service carries now. Check the original video page and the streaming service directly before relying on either.

How to check an upload like this yourself

  1. Open the original post and note its posting date. That is the earliest point in the chain you can verify.
  2. Look for photos of the case and the disc label. A photo is more useful than a verbal description of a homemade case.
  3. Compare the clips against official Seinfeld DVD blooper extras you can access. Record which clips appear in both, which appear only in the upload, and whether any clips are reused from broadcast episodes.
  4. Look for on-screen details that tie footage to a production period, such as wardrobe, set dressing or a particular season’s cast, rather than relying on the disc’s stated date.
  5. Search for independent coverage that names a source, such as a cast member, crew member, network or archivist. Coverage that names none should be treated as unverified.

Until a named source or an independent assessment appears, the upload should be treated as a fan-made rip of an unidentified disc whose contents and origin remain the uploader’s account.
