For U.S. viewers, the best legal free sports streaming sites are FIFA+, Tubi, The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, Sling Freestream, Plex, Red Bull TV, and the NFL Channel. They offer selected live events, sports channels, replays, highlights, and documentaries—not every NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, soccer, or college game. Most are ad-supported, and some live streams require a free account.

Availability checked for the United States; rights, schedules, accounts, and device support vary by location and can change by event. This guide focuses on official league or federation platforms and established free ad-supported services, not unauthorized game streams.

Quick comparison: free sports streaming sites

“Live sports” can mean a live match, a studio show, rolling scores, or an always-on channel. Check the event listing before tuning in.

Site Best for Live sports? Account Ads U.S. availability Main limitation
FIFA+ International and lower-division soccer Selected live competitions; schedule varies Requirements vary by stream May vary by content Selected content; territorial rights apply Not a substitute for every major league or tournament
Tubi Free sports channels and selected events Channels and occasional live events Some events require a free account Yes Sports channel availability varies Many channels carry news, analysis, or replays rather than games
The Roku Channel Free channels on supported devices and web where offered Selected programming Requirements vary Yes Country and device dependent Catalog differs by market and device
Pluto TV Always-on sports programming NFL Channel has live updates, not live NFL games Requirements vary Yes Channel availability varies Not a live-game package
Sling Freestream Free channels before a selective upgrade Some sports programming; event rights vary Requirements vary Yes U.S. service Major sports networks generally require payment
Plex Aggregating free live-TV channels Selected channels, not all live games Requirements vary Yes Channel lineup varies by location Not every sports-branded channel carries live competition
Red Bull TV Action sports and motorsports Selected events, depending on schedule and rights Requirements vary May vary Event rights vary Narrower range than general sports services
NFL Channel NFL news, replays, and league programming Live game-day coverage and updates, but not live games Access requirements vary by app or partner Yes Available through the NFL app and listed partners Live NFL games are carried by broadcast and paid partners

Account requirements and supported devices can differ between a website, app, and partner service. Check the official listing for the specific stream you want.

1. FIFA+: Best free option for selected soccer

FIFA+ is an official football platform with selected live matches, archives, highlights, documentaries, and original programming. Its schedule has included international, women’s, youth, and lower-division competitions, as well as examples such as USL League Two and the Women’s Premier Soccer League; these are examples, not a guaranteed current lineup. See FIFA’s current live-match listings and check each event’s territory.

FIFA+ is useful when you want to discover competitions beyond the biggest broadcast leagues. It is not a guaranteed free source for every Premier League, UEFA Champions League, MLS, or Liga MX match. Rights depend on the competition and country. FIFA announced a 2026 integration with DAZN, so the presentation and route to free content may differ from the standalone FIFA+ experience; consult FIFA’s announcement and the current U.S. schedule.

2. Tubi: Free sports channels and select live events

Tubi’s U.S. live-TV lineup includes sports-related channels such as NFL Channel. Much of that programming is news, studio analysis, documentaries, or replays rather than a live league game. Tubi’s live-TV channel guide shows its current featured channels.

Tubi says it will stream select 2026 FIFA World Cup matches live and free in the United States, in 4K on supported devices, for users signed in with a free account. That is an event-specific offer, not access to the whole tournament or a general guarantee of free live sports. Details are in Tubi’s World Cup help page.

3. The Roku Channel: Free sports channels and discovery

The Roku Channel offers free ad-supported programming, including sports-focused channels and FIFA+ content where available. Roku also provides a sports discovery page to help viewers find where games are being shown. That discovery feature does not mean every listed event is free or streams on The Roku Channel itself.

Roku Streaming Stick Plus with Voice Remote - 4K & HDR10+
  • 4K streaming made simple:With America’s number 1 TV streaming platform,* exploring popular apps—plus tons of free movies, shows, and live TV—is as easy as it is fun. *Based on hours streamed—Hypothesis Group
  • 4K picture quality: With Roku Streaming Stick Plus, watch your favorites with brilliant 4K picture and vivid HDR color.
  • Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, and it even powers from your TV alone, plugging into the back and staying out of sight. No wall outlet, no extra cords, no clutter.
  • No more juggling remotes: Power up your TV, adjust the volume, and control your Roku device with one remote. Use your voice to quickly search, play entertainment, and more.
  • Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.

Availability depends on country, device, and distribution agreements. Use supported Roku devices or the web where the service is offered, then check the event page for whether it is live, a replay, or a separate paid stream.

4. Pluto TV: Always-on sports programming

Pluto TV is a free, ad-supported service with continuous channels. Among its sports options is NFL Channel, which carries league shows, highlights, replays, and live game-day updates. It does not show live NFL games. The NFL lists Pluto TV among the NFL Channel’s partners on its official channel page.

Pluto TV works best for background sports programming and catching up, not for following a particular game live. Channel availability can change, so look at the service’s current guide.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Sling Freestream: A free starting point, not a full sports package

Sling says Freestream includes more than 600 free channels and free on-demand programming. Its sports selection can be useful for news, analysis, and other programming, but the free tier does not automatically include ESPN, FS1, TNT, or every league channel. See Sling’s sports page for the current distinction between free channels, paid plans, passes, and add-ons.

Choose Freestream if you want to start without a subscription and decide later whether a particular event justifies an upgrade. A short-term pass or paid plan is a paid option, not a free stream.

Roku Streaming Stick 4K with Voice Remote - HDR10+ & Dolby Vision
  • Stunning 4K and Dolby Vision streaming made simple: With America’s number 1 TV streaming platform,* exploring popular apps—plus tons of free movies, shows, and live TV—is as easy as it is fun. *Based on hours streamed—Hypothesis Group
  • Breathtaking picture quality: Stunningly sharp 4K picture brings out rich detail in your entertainment with four times the resolution of HD. Watch as colors pop off your screen and enjoy lifelike clarity with Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
  • Seamless streaming for any room: With Roku Streaming Stick 4K, watch your favorite entertainment on any TV in the house, even in rooms farther from your router thanks to the long-range Wi-Fi receiver.
  • Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
  • Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, so you can switch from streaming to gaming with ease. Plus, it’s designed to stay hidden behind your TV, keeping wires neatly out of sight

6. Plex: Free live-TV channels in one interface

Plex aggregates free live-TV channels, including sports and niche competition programming where available. It can make it easier to browse a mix of channels in one place, but a sports label does not guarantee a live game. Lineups and geographic availability vary. Check the Plex free live-TV page and the channel schedule for the content you want.

7. Red Bull TV: Action sports and motorsports

Red Bull TV is a strong free destination for selected action-sports and motorsports events, along with replays, highlights, documentaries, and athlete features. Its coverage is narrower than a general sports service, and the live calendar depends on event rights. Check Red Bull TV for what is currently scheduled.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

8. NFL Channel: Free football programming, not live games

NFL Channel is a free, always-on league channel available through the NFL app and partner platforms including Tubi, Pluto TV, Roku, and Plex. It offers NFL shows, highlights, replays, and game-day updates such as scores and statistics—not live NFL games. The NFL’s availability page lists its partners and programming.

For live-game access, the relevant broadcast or paid rights holder depends on the game and your location. NFL+ is a separate paid service, and its live-game availability depends on plan, device, and game restrictions.

Choose a free site by sport and content

Soccer

Start with FIFA+ for selected international, women’s, youth, and lower-division competitions. Check Tubi and The Roku Channel for sports channels or event-specific streams, and Red Bull TV for selected football-related action-sports programming. Confirm the match listing and territory before game time; a major league’s rights may sit elsewhere.

  • Cinematic streaming: This TV streaming device brings the movie theater to your living room with spectacular 4K, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision picture alongside immersive Dolby Atmos audio.

  • No more fumbling in the dark: See what you’re pressing with backlit buttons.

American football

Use NFL Channel on the NFL app or partner services for news, replays, and highlights. Tubi, Pluto TV, and Sling Freestream can also provide free football-related programming. None of those facts means the service carries live NFL games. A free broadcast stream may be available for some games depending on broadcaster, location, and event; check the official broadcaster’s local schedule.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Baseball

Tubi and other free channel services may carry MLB-related programming, but a channel about baseball is not equivalent to live access to every game. MLB.TV is paid and subject to blackouts and other rights restrictions; MLB’s package details explain the limits. The 2026 viewing options also differ by team and market, as shown in MLB’s team-by-team guide.

Motorsports and action sports

Red Bull TV is the most direct starting point for selected live action-sports events, replays, and features. Plex, Tubi, and Pluto TV can add related channels and programming. This category can offer more official free digital events than top-tier U.S. league sports, but each event’s rights and schedule still matter.

Women’s, youth, and lower-division competitions

FIFA+ is particularly useful for discovering competitions that receive less exposure on major U.S. networks. Browse its listings by event rather than assuming a league or national team will always be available free in the United States.

News, analysis, and replays

For continuous programming or catch-up viewing, look at NFL Channel, Tubi, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, and Sling Freestream. Check whether a program is live coverage, a replay, highlights, or studio discussion; those formats serve different needs.

What “free” means—and what it does not

  • Free, ad-supported: No paid subscription is needed, but ads fund the service. A free account may still be required for playback or personalization.
  • Free broadcast: An antenna can receive over-the-air broadcasts where signal and local rights permit. Official broadcaster apps may stream some broadcasts, subject to location or sign-in rules.
  • Free highlights or replays: Useful for catching up, but not live coverage.
  • Free channel: A continuous channel may show sports news and archived programming without carrying live games.
  • Free trial: A temporary promotion that can require payment details and renew automatically is not a long-term free option. Check its end date, price, and cancellation terms.

How to find and watch a particular game

  1. Identify the event and your location. Rights can differ by country, market, and ZIP code.
  2. Check the league, federation, or broadcaster’s official schedule. Confirm that the listing says live rather than replay, highlights, or studio coverage.
  3. Open the event’s official platform listing. Look for account, device, and territory requirements before relying on a stream.
  4. Check free broadcast options. A local or national over-the-air broadcast may be free with an antenna, but reception depends on your location and setup.
  5. Test access before the event. Sign in if needed, update the official app, and confirm that your TV or browser supports the service.

Why a game may be unavailable or blacked out

Sports rights are split among leagues, national broadcasters, local stations, and streaming services. A service may legally stream a competition but be unable to show a specific game in your area. League subscriptions can exclude in-market games, while a national or local broadcast may have exclusive rights. A VPN does not grant content rights or guarantee that a stream will work; using one to evade restrictions may also conflict with a service’s terms.

How to watch safely

Stick to official league, federation, broadcaster, and established ad-supported services. Unauthorized rebroadcast sites can expose viewers to aggressive redirects, fake play buttons, phishing, notification abuse, unreliable video, and unclear copyright status. Academic research has examined the ecosystem and security and economic risks around unauthorized free live-streaming services: arXiv study.

  • Type the official domain or use an app from the platform’s official store.
  • Do not install a “special player,” browser extension, or codec offered by an unfamiliar stream page.
  • Do not enter payment details on a clone site; use a unique password for free accounts.
  • Review account email and notification settings, and decline browser notification prompts you did not seek.
  • Expect advertising on free services. Ad load, stream quality, and delay can vary by service, device, and demand.

When free coverage is not enough

First identify the missing game, then choose the narrowest legitimate upgrade that carries it. Check restrictions before paying; a subscription may not include local games or every device. Prices and plan terms change, so confirm the current offer on the provider’s official page.

Option Useful when Check before subscribing
NFL+ You want NFL-specific content and eligible game access under the selected plan Live-game rules, device limits, and current U.S. plan terms; NFL+ is separate from the free NFL Channel
MLB.TV You follow an out-of-market baseball team Local blackouts, exclusivity restrictions, and current package details
Sling paid plans or passes You need selected sports channels or short-term access Channel lineup, event rights, pass duration, price, and renewal terms
Hulu + Live TV Your household wants a broader live-TV bundle with sports, news, and entertainment Current channel lineup, local availability, and whether its cost makes sense for occasional viewing
Antenna plus official apps You want local over-the-air broadcasts when available Reception varies with location, terrain, building materials, and distance from transmitters; an antenna cannot unlock cable-only rights

For NFL viewing in particular, the NFL’s support page listed U.S. NFL+ at $6.99 monthly or $49.99 annually and NFL+ Premium at $14.99 monthly or $99.99 annually on January 27, 2026. Confirm current pricing and inclusions at NFL support before subscribing.
