In “Will the Real May Please Stand Up?”, May’s hidden identity leads into a secretive technology company’s history, while Cate and Kentaro turn to Monarch for help and Shaw takes control of an Alaska outpost. These seven reveals connect the episode’s personal stakes to the wider Monsterverse.
Apple lists “Will the Real May Please Stand Up?” as the seventh episode of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 1. It was released December 22, 2023, and has a runtime of 47 minutes. Apple’s synopsis reads: “May finally faces her past. Duvall and Shaw follow traces of Godzilla and Hiroshi.” Apple TV episode listing.
1. May is really Corah
Tim discovers that May’s passport is false. The episode’s flashbacks reveal that her real name is Corah, and that she took the name May after fleeing her former employer. The discovery reframes her secrecy: she is not simply concealing a detail about her identity, but trying to keep a dangerous part of her past from catching up with her.
2. Corah was recruited by Applied Experimental Technologies
Before she became May, Corah worked for Applied Experimental Technologies, or AET. Brenda recruited her, and Corah joined hoping to do meaningful work. Instead, the company kept her away from its secretive Cybernetic Neural Interface Unit, leaving her unable to see what AET was actually pursuing.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. AET’s secret experiments were far from its public framing
Corah eventually accessed files connected to the interface unit. They exposed experiments on animals involving invasive cybernetic technology. The gap between the work she expected and what the company was secretly doing is the turning point that makes her decide she cannot remain at AET. TVLine’s episode recap details the AET history and the later corporate reveal.
4. Corah sabotaged AET’s data and disappeared
Corah planted code that wiped out company data, then arranged to leave and adopted the name May. AET eventually traced the attack back to her. Her flight is therefore tied both to her rejection of the company’s experiments and to the damage she inflicted on its systems.

5. Cate and Kentaro make a deal with Monarch to recover her
After learning about Corah’s past, Cate and Kentaro seek Monarch’s help to get her released. Monarch agrees to help in exchange for their cooperation in understanding Shaw’s plans. That bargain draws the siblings further into Monarch’s orbit: recovering Corah becomes linked to the organization’s attempt to make sense of what Shaw is doing. Fangoria’s episode recap summarizes the deal and the Alaska operation.
6. AET’s rebrand points toward Apex Cybernetics
Brenda’s office changes from the AET identity to the name Apex Cybernetics. The reveal connects Corah’s former employer to a company familiar from later Monsterverse continuity. TVLine notes that Apex is associated with Mechagodzilla in Godzilla vs. Kong. That is franchise context, not a claim that episode 7 shows Mechagodzilla or depicts its creation. The episode’s own reveal is the corporate connection; the later film adds what that name comes to mean in the franchise.

7. Shaw takes over the Alaska outpost
Shaw and his allies seize the Monarch facility in Alaska and use explosives at the Hollow Earth rift. The action moves his anti-Titan campaign from pursuit and planning to direct intervention at a consequential site. It also gives the episode’s other plotlines a larger frame: Monarch is trying to understand Shaw’s intentions as his campaign escalates.

The episode links two scales of conflict. At the character level, Corah’s effort to escape AET brings her history into the present and pulls Cate and Kentaro into a bargain with Monarch. At the organization level, AET’s transformation into Apex adds a corporate thread to the Monsterverse, while Shaw’s takeover puts Monarch’s Alaska operation and the Hollow Earth rift at risk.

Likewise, the episode’s Alaska action establishes Shaw’s move against the outpost and the rift, rather than resolving the wider consequences of his plan.
