No first-person confirmation from Bessette Kennedy establishes that attribution, and there is no verified formula or authoritative note breakdown for the historical oil. Contemporary descriptions generally point to a subtle, clean, skin-like musk rather than a documented list of notes.
Its current status is also unclear. The Abdul Kareem brand site describes the oil as sold exclusively through its website in small batches, with stock that can sell out. NewBeauty reported in February 2026 that the original was no longer in production. Check the brand’s current listing rather than assuming it is either available or discontinued.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Toilette
This is the clearest designer-fragrance choice if the appeal is a musk-centered perfume with a polished floral-woody structure. ELLE lists orange blossom, osmanthus, amber, vetiver, patchouli, and vanilla alongside musk. Editorial coverage describes the Eau de Toilette as created in tribute to Bessette Kennedy. Keep the concentration precise: the later Eau de Parfum has a noticeably different profile, so it should not be treated as interchangeable.
Kiehl’s Original Musk Eau de Toilette
For a warmer, more overt musk direction, ELLE describes a fresh, creamy opening followed by soft florals, musk, patchouli, and tonka. Its listed notes include orange blossom, bergamot, white patchouli, and musk. It is a contrast to the cleaner oil-roll-on options, not a documented match for the reported original.

Nemat International Egyptian Musk Fragrance Oil Roller
This compact oil roller is described by ELLE as a soft, powdery musk reminiscent of fresh linen, with lily of the valley, fresh linen, and powdery musk listed. “Egyptian Musk” makes it relevant to the search, but a shared style name does not demonstrate that its formula or scent duplicates Abdul Kareem’s oil.

Why the scent is getting renewed attention
NewBeauty reported that Kuumba Made founder Denise Piazza said sales of the company’s Egyptian Musk doubled after the FX series aired and Bessette Kennedy’s signature fragrance was mentioned. That is Piazza’s reported company figure, not an independently audited or market-wide statistic. Piazza also said Egyptian Musk had been one of Kuumba Made’s top sellers for 45 years; that statement likewise describes her company, not the category as a whole.
In the same NewBeauty article, perfumer Darryl Do of Delbia Do Fragrances said Egyptian Musk oil was popular in the 1970s alongside patchouli oils carried by many stores. Do described skin scents as having a soft feel that invites intimacy. That context helps explain the enduring appeal of understated musk, but it does not verify what Bessette Kennedy wore.
