Here are 40 animated features worth choosing for their craft, storytelling, range of styles and moods—not as an objective ranking. This guide is for viewers in the United States; no verified October 2026 service and access type is established for each title. Check a legal availability lookup before watching, and confirm whether a title is included with a subscription or costs extra. Peacock’s July 9, 2026 film list is a dated example, not a guarantee of October availability; Peacock itself notes, “Content availability subject to change.”
Animation is a medium, not an age rating or a single style. This selection spans hand-drawn features, computer animation, stop-motion, anime and adult-oriented stories alongside family films. The groupings are for finding a fit, not ranking the movies. Content notes are broad guidance rather than substitutes for checking a film’s current rating and details.

How to check where a film is streaming
Availability is separate from recommendation quality. A title may be included with a subscription, available only to rent or buy, or unavailable through the services you use; those options can vary by country and change over time. No verified October 2026 service and access type is established here for all 40 titles, so no film is labeled as currently streaming here.
- Set your country. Use a legal availability lookup configured for the United States, or the country where you plan to watch.
- Search the exact film title. Check the listed service and whether the offer is subscription-included, rental, purchase, or unavailable.
- Confirm on the service itself. Catalog listings can change; Peacock’s July 2026 page, for example, explicitly says, “Content availability subject to change.”
- Check language and suitability. If you need a particular dub, subtitles or rating, verify those on the title’s current service page before subscribing or paying.
Peacock’s July 9, 2026 U.S. list featured Shrek, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Despicable Me, Shrek 2, Shark Tale and The Croods: A New Age. It is useful as a dated catalog signal, not proof that any of those films remain included now. A European Audiovisual Observatory report published in 2025 says animation represented 6% of fiction films produced in Europe from 2017 through 2024; that production statistic does not describe streaming catalogs, audience preference or quality.
