For a blonde-hair mood board, choose celebrity references by the details you want to borrow: warmth or coolness, root depth, brightness, dimension, and where lighter pieces sit. The 30 looks below span golden, honey, strawberry, lived-in, and platinum blondes. Treat them as visual references—not promises that a color can be reproduced exactly. Lighting, styling, wigs, extensions, and the date of a photo can all change how a shade appears.
Save a few images that show the features you like, then show your stylist what you mean. A shade name alone rarely communicates the placement and contrast that make a look distinctive.
Golden, honey, and warm blonde inspiration
Warm blondes range from pale butter to deep caramel. These examples can help you decide whether you want an even, bright result or a more layered mix of tones.
Blake Lively: golden blonde with darker roots
Lively’s bright golden blonde, paired with darker-root balayage, is a useful reference for someone who likes brightness without a uniform color from scalp to ends. Ask your stylist to look at the root depth and the transition into the lighter lengths in the specific image you bring.

Beyoncé: sun-kissed gold
Beyoncé has worn blonde in more than one way, so choose a dated image rather than treating one shade as her permanent look. Colorist Rita Hazan described one look as, “It’s more sun-kissed where it has a brightness to it, but it’s not orange.” Marie Claire’s account of Beyoncé’s hair color gives that comment context.
Rihanna: buttery yellow blonde
Rihanna’s light buttery-yellow blonde is a warmer, more saturated point of comparison than icy or silvery platinum. If you like this direction, note whether the image’s overall warmth—not only its brightness—is what appeals to you.
Amanda Seyfried: butter-to-caramel dimension
Seyfried’s blonde shifts from buttery to caramel tones, making it a reference for warmth and depth rather than a single flat shade. Bring a photo that clearly shows the variations you want preserved.
Claudia Schiffer: yellow-gold with subtle dimension
Schiffer’s pure yellow-gold blonde is a classic warm reference, with subtle variation rather than a stark, uniform finish.

Witherspoon’s classic blonde has gentle yellow tones and dimension. It is a useful mood-board image if you want a familiar blonde effect without using platinum as the benchmark.
Zendaya: gold, copper, and brunette together
Zendaya’s short look brings gold, copper, and brunette tones together. It demonstrates how cut and color placement can work as one reference: save the image if you like the compact shape as much as the mix of tones.
Julia Roberts: strawberry blonde
Roberts’ strawberry blonde combines red and lighter blonde tones. The label can cover quite different balances, so point out whether you want the result to read more blonde, more copper, or somewhere between.

Cool, icy, and platinum blonde inspiration
Platinum, icy, beige, and silvery blondes sit on the cooler side of the spectrum, but they are not interchangeable. A photo can help distinguish a bright white result from a softer or more dimensional one.

Stefani’s exceptionally light blonde is a high-commitment reference. Use it to communicate the level of brightness you have in mind, not as a guarantee that the same result or maintenance schedule will suit every starting color.
Pamela Anderson: soft platinum with dimension
Anderson’s soft platinum carries a hint of yellow and visible dimension, so it reads less starkly than a uniform, icy white. Her look is a helpful reference if you want very light hair but prefer some softness.
Zoë Kravitz: white platinum with a pixie
Kravitz pairs white-platinum color with a short pixie. This reference makes the relationship between cut and color especially clear: the same shade can make a different impression on another length or shape.
Charlize Theron: white blonde with darker pieces
Theron’s white blonde includes darker pieces for dimension. Save a photo where those darker sections are visible so your stylist can see the contrast and placement you mean.

Farrah Fawcett: silvery blonde with pale highlights
Fawcett’s silvery blonde mixes wheat tones with paler highlights. It is a useful reference for a multi-tone, feathered effect rather than a single cool shade.
Anya Taylor-Joy: sharp platinum
Taylor-Joy’s sharp platinum is a bright, clean-looking option. The source raises the possibility of extensions in the look, so do not assume a photograph shows only her own hair or that its length and density are achievable through color alone.

Michelle Williams: single-tone yellow blonde
Williams is associated with a more single-tone yellow blonde, often worn with a short cut. Compare the image’s overall tone and finish with a more dimensional platinum reference before deciding what to show your stylist.
Marilyn Monroe: iconic peroxide blonde
Monroe’s all-over peroxide blonde is one of the most recognizable high-impact blonde references. A historic image can inspire the overall effect, but it does not specify a modern salon formula or account for differences in hair history and condition.

Grace Kelly: soft, silvery blonde
Kelly’s softer silvery blonde is less peroxide-bright than a stark platinum. It can help clarify whether you prefer a muted, gentle coolness to maximum brightness.
Root depth, contrast, and lived-in blonde
Darker roots, lowlights, and brighter ends create a different effect from all-over color. These references are especially helpful when you want a blonde that retains contrast or looks less uniform as it grows.
Dua Lipa: white blonde against a darker base
Lipa’s white blonde against a naturally darker base is a high-contrast reference. It communicates a striking difference between base and lightened lengths; it should not be taken as evidence that the blonde itself is natural.
Elle Fanning: dimensional blonde with root growth
Fanning’s blonde has dimension and a little visible root growth. Use this sort of photo if you like some depth at the scalp rather than a freshly lightened, uninterrupted blonde.

Scarlett Johansson: darker roots graduating to lighter ends
Johansson’s darker roots transition into lighter ends. This is a clear reference for a gradient effect; show the full length of the hair so the transition is visible.
Courtney Love: soft wheat blonde with dark roots
Love’s soft wheat blonde and dark roots offer a more muted, lived-in contrast than white blonde against a dark base.
Kate Moss: layered golden and wheat tones
Moss’s darker, lived-in blonde layers golden and wheat tones. It is a useful reference if you want a less polished, more varied result rather than one consistent shade.
Madonna: platinum with darker roots or highlights
Madonna’s platinum looks include darker roots or highlights. Because those details vary between images, bring the particular reference that shows the contrast you want.
Taylor Swift: dimensional blonde with deeper tones
Swift’s blonde includes richer, deeper tones. It can help show that a blonde look need not be uniformly light to read as blonde.

Highlights and lowlights can shift a blonde’s appearance without making every strand the same color. These examples are useful if you want your reference to communicate texture and variation as well as tone.
Britney Spears: layered Y2K blonde
Spears’ layered blonde uses both highlights and lowlights for a dimensional Y2K look. The combination is the point to convey: a single-color reference would not capture the same depth.

Jayne Mansfield: high-contrast bottle blonde
Mansfield’s signature bottle blonde is a high-contrast, very light reference. Use it when you want to communicate an unmistakably bright, statement-making blonde.
Sarah Michelle Gellar: highlights and lowlights
Gellar’s blonde mixes highlights and lowlights. This is a practical mood-board image if you want visible variation rather than an all-over, single-tone finish.
Sydney Sweeney: soft platinum with darker hair underneath
Sweeney’s soft platinum look shows darker hair underneath. A separate shade guide also describes a subtle face-framing version, which is a different placement idea; make sure your chosen image shows which one you mean.
How to turn a celebrity photo into a useful salon reference
Choose the detail, not just the celebrity
Save a few images that make the feature you like easy to see. Look for tone (warm or cool), root depth, brightness, placement, and the amount of contrast. A reference photo can communicate those choices more clearly than a label such as “honey blonde” or “platinum.”
Bring clear, current images
Whenever possible, use a photo with natural-looking light and a visible view of the roots and lengths. A seasonal stylist report recommends bringing reference photos in natural lighting; images under studio lights, filters, or strong color casts may make the same hair look warmer, cooler, brighter, or darker.
Account for the starting point and the desired level of change
The same process does not work for every starting color. Colorist Tracey Cunningham described selectively lifting strands from Dakota Johnson’s brunette base for a blonde result, while colorist Rita Hazan has emphasized a gradual approach to moving from dark hair toward platinum. Ask your stylist what is realistic for your own hair history and condition instead of assuming a celebrity’s photographed result maps directly to your hair.
Blonde also changes with time. Cunningham called Johnson’s look, reported on April 28, 2026, “dirty blonde,” describing it as “a soft, low-contrast blonde that blends cool, creamy tones with a subtle brunette undertone at the root.” Treat that as a dated example, not a permanent description of Johnson’s hair.
Plan for upkeep and hair health
Very light blonde and frequent root maintenance can require more upkeep than a softer, lived-in result. Stylist comments in the cited coverage include taking breaks after very blonde periods and lightening gradually; no product can guarantee damage prevention. Ask your colorist about a schedule and approach suited to your hair rather than expecting a mood-board image to prescribe either.

The right care depends on the color. A shade guide notes that purple shampoo may help maintain an icy, cool blonde, while it may strip richness from warmer blondes. A product recommendation associated with Beyoncé’s blonde should not be mistaken for a way to recreate her color.
