What does the category recognize?
The official name is Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media. It recognizes score soundtrack albums comprised predominantly of original scores created specifically for a video game or other interactive media, rather than video-game music in general. The Academy’s category description defines the award in those terms.

In this category, the composers are the nominees. The Academy’s nominee FAQ states that only composers are nominees, distinguishing this score award from soundtrack compilation categories with different credit rules.
How did the 2025 eligibility update address DLC?
The Recording Academy’s 2025 season update added a qualification for eligible soundtracks connected to released game content such as downloadable content and seasonal expansions: greater than 50% of the music had to derive from new episodes or new programming released during the Grammy eligibility year. This was a season-specific update; it does not establish that any particular 2025 nominee qualified through DLC.

How are Grammy nominees and winners selected?
The Academy describes the Grammys as peer-determined: voting members choose winners, while first-round voting determines nominees. The Awards Process also describes eligibility review by the Awards Department and genre-based screening committees that check category placement. These are general process details, not vote totals or a category-specific account of the 2025 outcome.
