The title names 20 professional wrestlers, but the available sources do not establish which 20 people belong on that list or support a responsible, case-by-case account. Naming people without reliable confirmation of both their wrestling careers and reported manner of death risks turning uncertainty into fact. This page therefore does not present an unverified roster.
Why a definitive list is difficult to verify
There is no official body collecting statistics on professional wrestler deaths, as an academic paper notes. Dedicated archives compile records according to their own scope and classifications, so they should not be treated as complete official registries. Read the academic paper.
One dedicated archive describes its broader database as containing more than 45 wrestlers. That is the archive’s own count, not an authoritative total or a count of deaths by suicide. See the Wrestler Deaths / Ten Bell Salute archive.
A responsible entry needs individual support for the person’s identity as a professional wrestler and for the reported manner of death. Where credible accounts describe a cause as undetermined or disputed, it should not be presented as confirmed suicide.

Chris Benoit’s case is not a single-person suicide
WWE’s June 26, 2007 timeline characterized the case as a double homicide-suicide involving Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their son Daniel. Nancy and Daniel were victims; describing the event simply as a wrestler’s suicide erases that essential context. WWE said it initially aired a career memorial while information was limited, then removed tributes as facts emerged. Its statement read: “As facts emerged surrounding the case all tributes to Chris Benoit were removed both on-air and on WWE.com.” Read WWE’s June 26, 2007 timeline.
