Red Bull’s most memorable publicity stunts range from Felix Baumgartner’s meticulously engineered stratospheric jump to homemade planes launched at Flugtag. This is a curated selection, not an official ranking: some entries are one-off feats, while others are recurring event formats or individual flights gathered in a Red Bull roundup. The details below rely primarily on Red Bull’s own reporting, so its records and “world-first” descriptions are attributed to the company rather than presented as independent verification.
1. Red Bull Stratos: a jump from the stratosphere
On October 14, 2012, skydiver Felix Baumgartner jumped from a balloon-supported capsule over New Mexico in a project built around a high-altitude jump and record attempt. Red Bull’s 2022 retrospective reports an altitude of 38,969.4 metres and a maximum speed of 1,357.6 kph. “From space” is a popular shorthand for Stratos, but the jump began in the stratosphere, not outer space. Red Bull’s Stratos retrospective includes accounts from the project team and Baumgartner.
The scale of the engineering is part of the spectacle. Medical director Dr. Jonathan Clark explained the danger of blood shifting during the descent: “Half the blood goes to the feet, the other half to the head. The heart gets too little blood, and you become faint.” Baumgartner recalled the first moments after leaving the capsule: “I didn’t feel anything in the first few seconds. No air, no sound, just nothingness.”
2. Red Bull Flugtag: homemade aircraft and a six-metre launch
Flugtag turns flight into a public, participatory spectacle. Teams build human-powered flying machines, then launch them from a six-metre deck into water. Red Bull says the event began in Vienna in 1992. Its judging criteria are flight distance, craft creativity and showmanship, so the shortest flight can still be memorable if the machine and performance deliver. Red Bull’s Flugtag retrospective describes the format and its history.

3. The Long Beach Flugtag chicken flight
At the 2013 Long Beach Flugtag, the Chicken Whisperers’ craft, piloted by a hen, reportedly flew 78.5 metres. The improbable passenger makes this a particularly delightful entry in Flugtag’s history, though the distance and the story are Red Bull’s account of the event. Red Bull’s retrospective lists it as a Flugtag flight record.
4. Wingsuits through Tower Bridge
On May 12, 2024, Marco Fürst and Marco Waltenspiel flew wingsuits through London’s Tower Bridge and landed on barges in the Thames. Red Bull’s 2025 retrospective reports a 1,200-metre flight lasting 45 seconds, with speeds up to 246 kph. The route through a recognisable city landmark makes the feat unusually legible even to viewers unfamiliar with wingsuit flying. Red Bull’s roundup of notable wingsuit flights provides the figures and location.

5. A wingsuit flight through the Giza pyramids
Red Bull’s wingsuit roundup includes a flight through the ancient pyramids at Giza. The available account supports the broad description, but not a date, named pilot or measured performance figure, so those details are best left unstated. The setting alone gives the flight its striking contrast: a modern aerial sport threading through one of the world’s most recognisable archaeological landscapes. Red Bull’s wingsuit roundup lists the flight.
6. Into and out of Chile’s Villarrica volcano
Another flight in Red Bull’s roundup goes into and out of the crater of Villarrica volcano in Chile. That description makes the unusual route clear; the source listing does not establish further details such as a date, pilot or conditions. Red Bull’s wingsuit roundup includes the flight.

7. Over Lebanon’s Cedars Forest and Qadisha Valley
Red Bull also lists a wingsuit flight over peaks in Lebanon’s Cedars Forest and Qadisha Valley. The appeal here is the landscape and the line across its mountain terrain; the roundup does not provide a date or flight statistics in its listing. Red Bull’s wingsuit roundup describes the locations.
8. A three-hour hike for a one-minute descent at Goksøyra
For a dramatic contrast between effort on the ground and time in the air, Red Bull’s roundup describes a three-hour hike followed by a one-minute descent at Goksøyra, Norway. Those durations come from the article’s headline framing, not an independently measured timing study. Red Bull’s wingsuit roundup identifies the location and premise.

11. A 64-second descent over Lake Garda
One entry in the same roundup follows a 64-second wingsuit descent from Monte Altissimo over Lake Garda in Italy. The duration and route give this flight a clear, compact hook; the listing does not provide a date or identify the pilot. Red Bull’s wingsuit roundup gives the duration and locations.
12. A wingsuit flight above Florida’s clouds

13. Red Bull Barnstorming: formation flying through a barn
In Red Bull Barnstorming, pilots Paul Bonhomme and Steve Jones flew in formation through a barn at a reported 300 kph. Red Bull describes it as the first formation flight through a building; that “world-first” characterization is the company’s claim. The feat depends on precise coordination as much as speed: two aircraft pass through an enclosed structure in formation. Red Bull’s Barnstorming video page gives the pilots and speed.
14. An FPV drone following an F1 car around Silverstone
In 2024, Red Bull profiled a custom first-person-view filming drone built by the Dutch Drone Gods team to follow the Oracle Red Bull Racing car around a full lap of Silverstone. Builder Ralph Hogenbirk said Red Bull had approached him with the idea about a year earlier. The project makes a camera drone part of the action rather than a distant observer. Red Bull’s “world’s fastest” framing is not an independently verified record. Red Bull’s 2024 drone project feature describes the build and lap.
