The 10th DokuBaku International Documentary Film Festival is underway in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 5 to 11 October 2026. The anniversary edition’s theme is “STELLAR CIVILIZATION”; screenings are reported to be free, and the selection includes 54 documentaries.
When and where is the 2026 DokuBaku festival?
DokuBaku’s official program lists the festival dates as 5–11 October 2026. FilmFreeway lists Nizami Kino Mərkəzi and KinoEvi among the festival venues. For the location and time of a particular screening, check the official program, since the available event information does not establish a complete, time-stamped daily schedule. BakuPost reported on 5 October 2026 that screening admission is free.
What is this year’s theme?
DokuBaku calls its 2026 theme “STELLAR CIVILIZATION.” The festival frames it as an invitation to reconsider humanity’s place in the universe—not as its center or master, but as a conscious, responsible and interconnected part of a larger system. Its seven-day program spans personal stories as well as questions of society, nature, technology, consciousness and the collective future. This is the festival’s description of its theme.
What films are in the selection?
DokuBaku says its selection began with more than 260 submissions from over 88 countries. The 2026 program includes 54 selected documentaries: 27 features and 27 shorts, including five Azerbaijani documentaries. Film titles and filmmaker credits are listed on the official selection page.
