Contemporaneous reporting said deputies found marijuana and what appeared to be illegal mushrooms in the vehicle. Slaton and Lovvorn were arrested on September 2, 2024, and charged with illegal possession of Schedule I drugs, illegal possession of Schedule VI drugs, and two counts of child endangerment.
These were allegations at the time, not findings of guilt. The sheriff’s department stated: “The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.”

On December 19, 2024, Slaton accepted a plea deal in Crockett County. The felony marijuana charge was reduced to simple possession, and the child-endangerment charges were dismissed. The Los Angeles Times reported that she pleaded guilty to simple possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs.
What sentence and conditions were reported?
The Los Angeles Times reported a suspended sentence of 11 months and 29 days, including time served. Reported conditions of the agreement included supervised probation, a drug-and-alcohol assessment, parenting classes, a $1,000 fine, and no contact with Tennessee Safari Park.
How the arrest differs from the court outcome
The arrest-day account described the sheriff’s department’s allegations and the original charges. The later plea reporting describes the court resolution: guilty pleas to simple-possession counts, dismissal of the child-endangerment counts, and a suspended sentence with conditions. The original charges should not be confused with the final disposition.
