This is an editorial shortlist—not a measured ranking of fan excitement. It spans Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Searchlight Pictures, 20th Century Studios and Disney-distributed productions, and separates confirmed release dates from projects with no date announced in the cited updates.
Upcoming Disney movies with confirmed release dates
Dates below are those Disney reported in its announcements available as of October 7, 2026. Release schedules can change, so check the linked studio announcements for updates. The order is an editorial selection, not a poll or an official Disney ranking.
1. Avengers: Doomsday — December 18, 2026
Marvel’s next Avengers film is the slate’s clearest large-scale superhero event. Disney’s D23 coverage said excitement around the release was building and reported that a special look was unveiled at the event; Disney also positioned Avengers: Endgame: Encore as a theatrical lead-in featuring a preview. Those are signs of the studio’s promotion, not independent evidence of audience demand. Disney’s fall 2026 slate and D23 announcement give the date and promotional context.
2. Hexed — November 25, 2026
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ original coming-of-age story centers on Billie, a teenager whose magical abilities send her into a witch realm, where she teams up with her cautious mother. Directors Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand presented selected scenes at Annecy. Its fresh fantasy premise makes it a distinct alternative to the slate’s sequels and established franchises. Disney lists its release date; its Annecy announcement describes the film.

3. Behemoth! — December 4, 2026
Searchlight’s film from Tony Gilroy stars Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde. The available Disney announcement supplies the date and principal cast but little plot detail, so the cast and filmmaker—not an unconfirmed story description—are the reason to keep it on the calendar. Disney’s fall slate announcement.
4. Ice Age: Boiling Point — February 5, 2027
The returning herd faces a dinosaur-and-lava adventure, with “Jurassic Scrat” among the announced elements. The familiar characters meet a new setting, making this a straightforward pick for viewers following the long-running animated series. Disney’s D23 announcement.
Rank #2
5. Gatto — March 5, 2027
Pixar’s original animated adventure follows Nero, a black cat in Venice who is indebted to a feline mob boss and forms an unexpected friendship. Enrico Casarosa, director of Luca, directs; Disney says the film will be released exclusively in theaters. The Venetian setting and unusual lead character give it a different flavor from Pixar’s sequel-driven titles. Disney’s Annecy announcement.
6. The Bluey Movie — August 6, 2027
The film follows Bluey and her family through an action-packed day. Series creator Joe Brumm writes and directs, with Ludo Studio and BBC Studios also involved. Its connection to the established children’s series makes it a notable family release, while the announcement does not give grounds to predict its commercial performance. Disney’s D23 announcement.

7. The Simpsons film — September 3, 2027
Disney’s D23 report gives a theatrical date and says Dana Walden presented a sneak peek. The announcement excerpt provides little plot or casting information, so details beyond the project and date remain unconfirmed here. Disney’s D23 report.
8. Lilo & Stitch 2 — May 26, 2028
Disney says the sequel is scheduled to begin production in Hawaiʻi and will be directed by Chris Sanders, who co-created, co-wrote and directed the 2002 animated film. The company also reported that the 2025 live-action Lilo & Stitch grossed more than $1 billion. That box-office figure is context for the franchise’s recent reach, not a measure of anticipation for this sequel. With the release still distant, its date is especially subject to change. Disney’s D23 announcement.

Announced Disney projects without a release date
9. Tangled — release date not stated
Disney’s D23 account said the live-action retelling was filming in Spain at the time of the event, with Michael Gracey directing and Kristin Burr producing. The announcement cited here does not give a release date; no year should be inferred from its production status. Disney’s D23 announcement.
10. Zootopia 3 — release date not stated
Disney described the project as being in early development and said an exclusive sequence was shown to D23 attendees. That makes it a reasonable inclusion in a broad roundup of announced projects, but it is not on a confirmed release schedule in the cited update. Disney’s D23 announcement.

How this shortlist interprets “most excited”
There is no independent published statistic in the cited material ranking excitement for these 10 films. The selection instead weighs announced release timing, recognizable franchises, returning creative teams or characters, the available premise, and whether Disney has shared a date or footage. Those factors help explain why a film may interest readers; they do not establish how excited audiences are.
Disney has shared broader franchise-performance context, but it should not be mistaken for a forecast or a survey. The company reported in 2026 that The Mandalorian had streamed for more than 1.3 billion hours globally, and said Toy Story 5 surpassed $1.1 billion at the global box office. It also described the first Moana as one of its most-streamed movies annually over the previous five years, with Moana 2 joining those ranks after its Disney+ debut. These figures concern earlier releases and viewing or box-office performance—not anticipation for the upcoming titles. Disney’s summer 2026 announcement provides the cited Moana context; the D23 announcement provides the Mandalorian context, and Disney’s fall slate is the source for current late-2026 scheduling and promotion.
