Ten shows have drawn especially large measured audiences, but there is no single global ranking that proves they have “taken over” every streaming service. Recent figures point to a mix of long-running favorites and returning originals: Bluey and Grey’s Anatomy led Nielsen’s U.S. TV viewing-minute list for 2025, while Netflix reported major global viewing for Stranger Things and Bridgerton. The ten below are a cross-platform selection, not a shared top-ten chart.
Ten shows with substantial measured streaming audiences
The figures below come from different datasets and time periods, so they are evidence of substantial viewing—not a direct ranking against one another. Nielsen figures are U.S. television minutes; Netflix figures are global views on Netflix; Luminate figures are a separate U.S. stream count reported by the Associated Press.
Bluey
Bluey accumulated 45.2 billion minutes of U.S. television viewing in 2025, making it Nielsen’s top overall streaming title for the year. Nielsen noted that the episodes averaged about eight minutes, a reminder that a very large total can reflect repeated viewing as well as the size of an audience. Nielsen’s 2025 streaming roundup.
Grey’s Anatomy
Grey’s Anatomy drew 40.9 billion U.S. TV viewing minutes in 2025, second overall on Nielsen’s list. Its viewing was on Netflix and Hulu, and its long-running catalog gives viewers many episodes to watch. Nielsen’s annual figures.

Stranger Things
Stranger Things reached 40.0 billion U.S. TV viewing minutes in 2025, leading Nielsen’s streaming-originals list. A 25.1-billion-minute burst came during the five weeks around the fifth-season rollout. Nielsen’s measurement year ended December 28, 2025, so the total excludes viewing of the series finale. Netflix separately reported 94 million global views for season five in the second half of 2025, and 275 million views for all five seasons combined during that half; those Netflix views use a different measure and audience than Nielsen’s minutes. Squid Game
Squid Game generated 22.2 billion U.S. TV viewing minutes in Nielsen’s 2025 figures. Netflix also reported 79 million global views for season three in the second half of 2025. The two numbers describe different measurements and should not be treated as interchangeable. Nielsen and Netflix.
Reacher
Reacher accumulated 13.3 billion U.S. TV viewing minutes in the first half of 2025, ranking second among streaming originals in Nielsen’s period-specific list. Nielsen’s first-half report.

The White Lotus
The White Lotus recorded 11.5 billion U.S. TV viewing minutes in the first half of 2025 and also appeared in Nielsen’s overall top 20 for that period. Nielsen’s first-half report.
Severance
Severance drew 9.3 billion U.S. TV viewing minutes in the first half of 2025, placing fifth among originals in Nielsen’s report. Nielsen’s first-half report.

The Pitt
The Pitt reached 19.4 billion U.S. streams in the first half of 2026, according to Luminate figures reported by the Associated Press. This is a stream count, not Nielsen’s minutes-viewed measure, so it cannot be ranked directly against the Nielsen totals above. Associated Press report on Luminate’s figures.
Bridgerton
Netflix reported 180 million global views across the Bridgerton franchise in the first half of 2026, including 100 million views for season four. Separately, the Associated Press reported 14 billion U.S. streams for the show in Luminate’s dataset. Netflix’s global views and Luminate’s U.S. streams are distinct measures. Why these figures do not make one definitive top ten
Minutes, views and streams count different things
Nielsen’s annual 2025 figures count minutes watched on U.S. television by people age two and older. The measurement period ran from December 30, 2024, through December 28, 2025, using the Nielsen National TV Panel; totals include streaming beyond the distributors listed in its chart. Nielsen’s first-half 2025 report also uses U.S. TV minutes. Netflix reports viewing by its members worldwide on Netflix, with views or hours watched, while the AP’s Luminate figures use a different U.S. stream-count dataset. A large number in one system cannot be converted into a rank in another.

Catalog size and release timing shape totals
Total minutes favor shows with deeper libraries because viewers can accumulate more watch time across more episodes. Release timing matters too: a title available for more of a reporting window has more time to gather viewing than one released near its end. Nielsen publishes separate lists for originals, acquired series and movies, and cautions that these factors affect comparisons. Nielsen’s explanation of its first-half lists.
A returning season can revive earlier episodes
Netflix reported that all five Stranger Things seasons ranked among its 15 most-viewed titles in the second half of 2025, when the franchise reached 275 million global views. Its H1 2026 report likewise described earlier-season viewing rising alongside Bridgerton season four. These examples show why a hit’s audience may include both new-episode viewing and renewed interest in its back catalog. What “taken over streaming” really means
These shows are strong examples of large measured audiences across several platforms and reporting windows, not proof that the same ten titles dominate every service, country, device or audience. Nielsen’s annual chart is about U.S. television viewing; Netflix’s reports cover global viewing on Netflix; and Luminate’s reported figures reflect another U.S. dataset. Treat each figure in its own context rather than as a universal popularity score.
