Summer 2026 has passed, so this is a look back at ten series Netflix scheduled for that season—not a current watchlist. The selection is an editorial guide to varied viewing tastes, not a ranking based on reviews or show-by-show viewing figures. It includes new adaptations alongside returning seasons and parts; availability may vary by country.
How to choose from Netflix’s summer 2026 slate
The ten picks below are organized around what you might want to watch: continuing drama, family adventure, literary adaptation, reality dating, sports documentary, or comedy. Netflix’s official announcements establish the titles, scheduled dates, and basic descriptions; they do not establish an objective “best” order.
For the broader slate and its announced dates, see Netflix Tudum’s 2026 guide and Netflix’s summer roundup.
10 Netflix series from summer 2026
1. Sweet Magnolias Season 5 — June 11
Choose this returning drama for a story centered on lifelong friends balancing relationships, family, and careers. It is a fifth season, not a new series, so it is most naturally suited to viewers already invested in the characters. Netflix listed its summer date in the annual release guide.

Its fantasy-adventure premise makes it a fit for viewers looking for an ongoing ensemble quest rather than a standalone story. The season’s announced date and synopsis appear in Netflix’s guide.
3. Little House on the Prairie — July 9
Unlike the returning seasons on this list, this is a new adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books. Netflix describes it as a family adventure and survival story, making it a natural pick for viewers who want historical family drama. The series and its scheduled date are listed in the official 2026 guide.

This is a taste-based shortlist across different formats, not a claim that one title outperformed another. Netflix’s midyear viewing summary reported 97 billion hours watched on the platform in the first half of 2026, but that is a total across Netflix viewing—not a measure of any individual summer series. It cannot be used to rank these ten shows. See Netflix Tudum’s midyear viewing summary for the platform-wide figure.
