“New” means newly added to the US Netflix catalog in March 2025—not necessarily released in theaters that month. This list includes Netflix Originals and licensed films, with picks for different moods rather than a claim that one title is universally best. Netflix availability varies by country and can change, so check your local catalog.
Best new Netflix movies in March 2025, by what you want to watch
Release dates below are the dates reported for US Netflix additions. Reception figures are dated snapshots, not permanent scores or directly comparable rankings: review counts and rating methods differ by film.

Plankton: The Movie — for animated comedy
Added March 7; Netflix Original. This family-oriented animated comedy puts SpongeBob SquarePants’ diminutive adversary Plankton and his sentient computer wife at the center of the story. It is the list’s clearest choice for a lighter animated watch. Rotten Tomatoes showed a 73% Tomatometer from 15 critic reviews and a 65% audience rating from more than 250 ratings when checked; the critic score comes from a small sample. Netflix later reported 40 million views in its Q1 2025 shareholder letter, a platform engagement figure rather than a measure of quality. Netflix’s Q1 2025 shareholder letter; Rotten Tomatoes.
-
CHAOS: The Manson Murders — for documentary and true-crime viewers
Added March 7; Netflix documentary film directed by Errol Morris. This is the documentary pick for viewers interested in the Manson murders and in how a film investigates contested interpretations of history. Treat its theories as claims explored by the documentary, not as settled fact: a Chicago Sun-Times review excerpt collected by Metacritic says the film does not provide conclusive proof of a covert-government link. -
The Electric State — for science-fiction spectacle
Added March 14; Netflix Original. Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt star in this science-fiction adventure, based on a graphic novel, about a girl crossing a ravaged United States in search of her brother. Choose it for the large-scale premise and adventure rather than strong critic consensus: Rotten Tomatoes showed a 14% Tomatometer from 159 critic reviews and a 67% audience rating from more than 5,000 ratings when checked. Those are snapshots that may change; the split also shows why a single aggregate cannot tell every viewer whether the film will suit them. Rotten Tomatoes.
-
The Outrun — for a somber character drama
Added March 18; licensed 2024 film. The drama follows a woman who returns home to face present difficulties and a troubled past. It is the choice here for a more inward, serious story rather than action or broad comedy. The March arrivals listing describes that premise; it does not establish a reception score for this guide. March 2025 US arrivals calendar.
-
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera — for a crime-action sequel
Added March 20; licensed 2025 sequel. This follow-up to Den of Thieves moves its crime-action story to a European diamond-heist plot. It fits viewers looking for a familiar heist setup and a sequel rather than a standalone drama. Rotten Tomatoes showed a 63% Tomatometer from 99 critic reviews and a 79% audience rating from more than 2,500 verified ratings when checked; the figures are dated snapshots, not a guarantee of how you will respond. Rotten Tomatoes.
-
The Life List — for a feel-good romance-drama
Added March 28; Netflix Original. In Adam Brooks’s film, a woman sets out to complete her childhood bucket list after her mother gives her that task. Netflix lists Sofia Carson, Kyle Allen, José Zúñiga, Sebastian de Souza, and Connie Britton among the cast. Pick it for a romance-leaning, hopeful story rather than a documentary or thriller. Delicious — for a less familiar German thriller
Added March 7; Netflix Original. This German thriller arrived after its Berlin Film Festival premiere, offering an alternative to the month’s more familiar franchise and library titles. Its reception snapshot is a caution, not a recommendation based on consensus: Rotten Tomatoes showed 20% from 10 reviews when checked. With only 10 reviews in that aggregate, the figure is limited evidence, but it is worth knowing before choosing it. Rotten Tomatoes.
-
Sicario — for a tense crime thriller
Added March 1; licensed catalog film. The arrival makes this crime thriller a choice for viewers who want a darker, more grounded-feeling crime story from the catalog rather than a new Netflix production. It was part of the March 1 wave of licensed additions. TIME’s March 2025 Netflix additions list.

-
Pride & Prejudice — for period romance
Added March 1; licensed catalog film. This familiar period-romance option broadens the list beyond crime, science fiction, and animation. It is a straightforward pick for viewers in the mood for an adaptation of Jane Austen rather than a newly released film. TIME’s March 2025 Netflix additions list.
-
Annie (2014) — for a musical-family option
Added March 1; licensed catalog film. The 2014 musical offers a family-oriented direction among the month’s library arrivals. It is included here as a familiar catalog choice, not because the evidence establishes it as a critical standout. TIME’s March 2025 Netflix additions list.

How to choose from the March arrivals
- For animation: Plankton: The Movie.

- For science-fiction adventure: The Electric State, especially if spectacle matters more to you than critic consensus.
- For a quieter drama or romance: The Outrun or The Life List.
- For crime and heists: Den of Thieves 2: Pantera if you want a sequel, or Sicario for a catalog thriller.
- For a familiar, lighter catalog pick: Pride & Prejudice for period romance or Annie for a musical.
What “best” means for this list
The ten picks prioritize variety and a clear reason to choose each film, not a universal ranking. Rotten Tomatoes aggregates summarize the reviews and audience ratings available when checked; the critic and audience samples vary, and those figures can change. Netflix’s reported view total for Plankton: The Movie measures platform engagement, not quality and not a direct comparison with the other films here. The March calendar and Netflix guide establish additions and descriptions, but they do not establish a definitive top ten across all arrivals.
