Rotten Tomatoes film guide editor Alex Vo published the guide on January 5, 2026. It ranks recent horror films by Tomatometer and says 2025 titles will leave the chart as 2026 films are added. The scores below are those displayed on the live guide on October 8, 2026; they can change.

This follows the guide’s displayed order, rather than sorting titles by percentage. Its positions do not always descend by score: 28 Years Later appears ahead of Bring Her Back despite showing 88% versus 89%. A tied or nearby percentage alone does not explain every placement.

What the Rotten Tomatoes scores mean
The Tomatometer is a critics’ measure, not an audience rating or a universal verdict on quality. Rotten Tomatoes says its guide places Certified Fresh films first, followed by Fresh films rated at least 60%, and then Rotten titles. A score is not a ranked position by itself, so use the displayed order when referring to this particular top ten.
Why this is not a Halloween 2025 snapshot
The guide was published in January 2026 and continues to change as new horror titles arrive. Rotten Tomatoes says, “As new 2026 horror movies are added, films from 2025 are dropped from the charts.” That means this list reflects the guide as it appeared on October 8, 2026, not necessarily the titles or scores readers would have seen during Halloween 2025.
