The watches on the wrists of the newer action leads map onto their characters fairly closely. Based on watch-spotting and costume sources, Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs wears a large sport diver, Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw is associated with a vintage Rolex Submariner, Keanu Reeves’s John Wick wears a restrained Swiss dress watch, and the survivors in Triple Frontier wear low-cost field watches. Each identification comes from film watch-spotting or a brand’s own publication rather than an official production record, so the sections below show where each claim comes from and how firm it is.
How these identifications were made
Most of what is known about on-screen watches comes from outside the production. Three kinds of source appear, and they carry different weight:
- Costume-designer interview. A 2019 interview with Dwayne Johnson’s costume designer names a Panerai Luminor Submersible for Luke Hobbs and says a suede strap was fitted for the film. This is the closest thing to a production-side confirmation for any watch discussed here.
- Watch-publication spotting. A watch-publication article dated 21 April 2020 (Time+Tide) identifies the Hobbs and Deckard Shaw watches and is the most complete single source for this group of films.
- Specialist identification site and brand material. Watch ID gives model-level sightings for the John Wick and Triple Frontier watches. Its Hobbs wording is tentative, and its John Wick pages describe a Carl F. Bucherer product-placement arrangement. That context is taken from a Carl F. Bucherer brand publication, which is promotional rather than independent.
Read the identifications as attributed claims. Where a source hedges, the article hedges with it, and the reference numbers given are the sources’ own readings of the watch on screen.
Hobbs & Shaw: a diver and a vintage Submariner
Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson)
Hobbs is the most firmly identified watch in the franchise spin-off. Time+Tide identifies a Panerai Luminor Submersible, and the 2019 costume-designer interview independently names the same model and the suede band fitted for filming. Two separate sources agreeing on the model makes this the best-supported identification in this group. Neither source gives a reference number for the on-screen watch, so the model name is the most that can be stated with confidence.

Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham)
Time+Tide’s watch spotter identifies Shaw’s watch as a vintage Rolex Submariner, reference 5513. That is a single source, and no production or costume record in the material reviewed confirms the reference. A vintage Submariner reference reads as a specific claim, so treat 5513 as the spotter’s reading rather than a documented fact.
John Wick: a restrained dress watch and a product-placement story
John Wick (Keanu Reeves)
Watch ID identifies Wick’s watch as a Carl F. Bucherer Manero AutoDate, reference 00.10908.08.13.01. The Manero AutoDate is a dress-style automatic, and that restraint fits a character who never dresses for show. The same site says the Carl F. Bucherer watches in the John Wick films relate to an official product-placement deal, and it notes director Chad Stahelski’s brand ambassadorship. That commercial link is Watch ID’s account, and a Carl F. Bucherer brand publication supports the film context.

“The proverbial ticking clock is very often present in John Wick Chapter 3 – Parabellum, be it on Times Square billboards, through the passage of the sun in the Moroccan desert, and of course on the wrists of the characters,” says director Chad Stahelski.

“Bucherer Manero AutoDate was the perfect watch for the character John Wick,” says Daniel Bernhardt.
Stahelski’s remark points to the watch as a plot device, a clock that the film keeps in view. Bernhardt’s remark is an actor’s endorsement, so it reflects the film’s choice rather than an independent verdict.

Winston (Ian McShane)
Watch ID identifies Ian McShane’s Winston as wearing a related Manero AutoDate variation, reference 00.10915.08.33.01, with a black dial. Because it is a variation of the Wick model, the reference number is the detail to check if you are trying to match the two watches.
Triple Frontier: field watches for a survivalist crew

The watch is identified as a Timex Expedition T499759J. One watch-publication article describes it as water resistant to 100 m.
Charlie Hunnam
Watch ID identifies a Timex Expedition T49896, an Expedition Rugged Shock digital model. The listed functions are time, day, date, alarm, chronograph, timer, Indiglo backlight, water resistance and shock resistance. These are the page’s description of the model, and they may not match the current version of the watch.
Pedro Pascal
Watch ID’s Triple Frontier page identifies a Casio AE1200WH-1A for Pascal’s character.

Checking a reference before you buy or compare
An on-screen identification tells you which model a character wore, not which watch you can buy today. Use the steps below to confirm a match.
- Start with the reference number, not the model name. For the Wick and Winston watches, the references 00.10908.08.13.01 and 00.10915.08.33.01 are different, and the Winston reference specifies a black dial.
- Compare the dial, bezel, hands and strap against screen captures. The costume-designer interview notes a suede strap for Hobbs’s Panerai, so a bracelet-equipped example is not a match for that detail.
- For the vintage Rolex Submariner attributed to Shaw, check the specific reference and era. A vintage listing may not match the reference the spotter named.
- For the Timex models, confirm the exact model number on the caseback or the product page, since the Expedition line includes many variants.
- Check price, availability and whether a listing is new, used or vintage directly with the seller. The sources reviewed here were published in 2019 and 2020 and do not establish current prices or stock.
Keep the identification and the purchase as separate decisions. A watch can be a correct match for a character and still be the wrong model for your needs, so decide on the functions and fit you want after you have confirmed the reference.
