What the official sources say each Miraculous does
Disney France’s announcement of the Kwamis for the series, dated 29 April 2020, is the clearest official statement of what each jewel’s Kwami is associated with. It is a summary of powers, not a measure of strength.

Creation and destruction sit at opposite ends of a scale, while protection and illusion describe defensive and deceptive functions. These are different kinds of power, so the official descriptions do not give a common measure that would let one be scored above another.
Why the paired heroes carry the strongest claim
The Disney France description is the only official text reviewed that links two specific jewels into a combined effect. It says the objects of the two main heroes together confer an extraordinary power. That is why the paired reading is the best-supported answer: it is the one place where the official wording describes a specific, exceptional result rather than a single ability.

The claim is limited to what that wording says. It does not establish that Ladybug’s jewel alone, or Cat Noir’s alone, is the strongest of the set.
Why no single ranking is established
If you want to compare jewels yourself, three questions keep the comparison honest. Official material does not publish a scoring system, so these are editorial framing rather than franchise rules.
- Scope and function. Is the ability a broad force such as creation or destruction, or a narrower effect such as protection or illusion? Broad and narrow powers should not be ranked on the same scale.
- One jewel or two. Is the claim about a single Miraculous or about a pairing? The Disney description supports the pairing; it does not support a claim about one jewel alone.
- Control and access. Who holds the power, and can they use it on their own terms? A power that is borrowed, taken or shared can count for less, or more, than its description suggests in a given episode.
Season 5 and the Monarch complication

This matters for power comparisons because it shows that a holder, not only a jewel, can change a matchup. It is a plot premise from a 2022 French press announcement, though, and it does not place Monarch’s power above the paired heroes.

Movie and series are not the same canon
Miraculous Corp’s official movie page describes the jewels as magical and says they have extraordinary superpowers, and it identifies the page as a feature-film adaptation. The film page is useful for franchise tone, but film-specific claims should not be carried into the television series when judging which jewel is strongest there.

In a 2025 Miraculous Corp announcement, Jeremy Zag, identified there as co-creator, producer and co-founder, said: “Ladybug and Cat Noir were created to inspire kids around the world to believe in themselves.” That is a statement about the franchise’s purpose, not a ranking of powers. The official news index lists a Season 6 announcement dated 26 February 2026, which shows later season news exists but adds nothing to the power question.

If a source names a single jewel as the strongest, check whether it cites an episode, a combined effect, or simply a fan preference. The official descriptions support a claim about the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses together; any single-jewel claim needs its own evidence from a specific episode.
