Lonnie Lincoln is Tombstone in Marvel Comics: a Philadelphia gangster whose exposure to Diox-3 leaves his skin nearly invulnerable. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Lonnie Lincoln is Tombstone
Marvel’s comics biography for Harry Osborn identifies the character as “Philadelphia gangster Lonnie Lincoln, AKA Tombstone.” That entry is the clearest official statement that the two names belong to one character, so readers who have seen “Tombstone” in the comics and “Lonnie Lincoln” in the animated series are dealing with the same underlying figure, presented in two different versions.
The comics version
In the comics account, Lonnie is an adult criminal. His defining origin detail is Diox-3 exposure, which makes his skin nearly invulnerable. That is the one power-related fact this article can state with confidence from the sources cited here. It is not a full list of abilities, and the sources do not establish his first appearance issue or a complete comics chronology, so anything beyond the Philadelphia setting, the gangster identity, and the Diox-3 origin should be checked against a dedicated Marvel reference before you rely on it.
The Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man version
The animated series takes a different route. Its Lonnie is a high-school student rather than a gangster. He is Peter Parker’s schoolmate and friend, and he is captain of the school football team. The central drama of his story is family: he is drawn into the 110th Street gang while trying to protect his younger brother, and that choice changes the direction of his life.

D23’s February 2025 coverage describes the first season’s version of this story. It does not show the character completing a transformation that matches the comics. Showrunner Jeff Trammell has said later seasons would continue the story, so the series’ treatment of Lonnie should be read as a work in progress rather than a finished adaptation of the Tombstone character.

What the showrunner has said
In D23’s February 28, 2025 interview, Trammell said: “Lonnie has so much history in the comics, but there is so much more to explore with him onscreen.” The same interview quotes him on the parallel between the two leads: “Peter and Lonnie share a lot of really cool personality traits, but they’re also very different.” He uses that comparison to explain why the characters have similar strengths but face different obstacles and follow different paths.
Trammell also described the show’s structure. “I look at Season 1 like we’re building this world, and we’re setting the board. In Season 2 and future seasons, now we’re playing the game.” Read in context, that statement points to the series treating its first season as setup. It is not a promise about any particular comics storyline.

A separate D23 behind-the-scenes feature from February 6, 2025 quotes Trammell saying, “We spend a lot more time with Peter in our series.” He was describing the show’s focus on the person behind Spider-Man’s mask, not making a claim about Lonnie.

If you want the comics version of Tombstone, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – Fearsome Foes trade paperback is a relevant starting point. Marvel describes it as including “the terrifying origin” of Tombstone and his history with Daily Bugle reporter Joe Robertson. That description covers Tombstone’s origin and his relationship with Robertson. It does not establish that the book contains every Tombstone story, so treat it as a strong first read rather than a complete collection. Search for the title as “Spider-Man Spider-Verse Fearsome Foes trade paperback” at a bookseller or your local library.
