Wilmer Valderrama and Amanda Pacheco spoke about raising their daughter, Nakano, with a connection to her family heritage, according to The Blast’s September 2022 summary of a Parents feature. Valderrama described the hope behind that effort: “We want Nakano to grow up in a world where she’s proud of her roots and respects where she came from.”
What the couple shared about their family
The Blast reported that Valderrama’s parents and Pacheco’s father spoke Spanish natively and lived nearby. Its account says Pacheco and Nakano were learning to speak Spanish, placing language alongside family relationships as part of the story of honoring their roots.

The report does not say that the relatives shared a home. It describes them as living nearby, so “multigenerational living,” the phrase in the Parents headline reproduced by The Blast, should not be read as confirmation of one household.
Valderrama’s hope for Nakano
Valderrama’s quoted wish was for his daughter to feel proud of her roots and respectful of where she came from. That is the clearest statement of the couple’s aim in the available account: a sense of heritage and belonging as Nakano grows up.

#1 Best Overall
The Blast’s summary does not establish Nakano’s Spanish fluency or describe how the family was helping her learn. It also does not provide further detail from the original Parents interview. The reported comments are best understood as a brief glimpse of the family’s priorities, rather than a detailed account of their language-learning approach.
