Why does the line suit Sorsha?
Its humor comes from the distance between Sorsha’s younger self and the queen she has become. The remark is affectionate but lightly rueful, giving the returning character a reflective voice rather than treating her history with Madmartigan as simple romance.
Whalley described the character’s appeal as a mix of qualities: “What I loved about her in the beginning is that she was a combination of contradictions, as we all are, in that she was quite fierce and capable and strong and vulnerable and romantic.” The line’s wryness fits that blend of strength, vulnerability and romantic history.
#1 Best Overall
- Willow is a timeless fantasy tale where heroes come in all sizes. Filled with magic and danger it is the ultimate story of good versus evil.
How does the series bring Sorsha back?
Whalley reprises Sorsha as an older, queenly figure. Sorsha and Madmartigan’s children, Kit and Arik, are central to the story’s setup; Kit is determined to learn what happened to her father. Kasdan said Sorsha had relatively little material in the original film and that the series gave Whalley more substantial material to play.
These remarks and the quoted line were reported by Maureen Lee Lenker in Yahoo Entertainment on November 30, 2022: Yahoo Entertainment.
