Is it called War Machines?
The title has appeared in two forms. TheWrap used War Machine 2 in its June 2 report; What’s on Netflix reported on July 20, 2026, that the title had been revealed as War Machines through a social-media script-cover tease. Treat War Machines as a reported title, rather than a title confirmed in a direct Netflix announcement.

Who is expected to return?
Hughes is the only return attached to the sequel in the cited reporting, as its expected director. TheWrap said no sequel cast had been confirmed as of June 2, 2026. Alan Ritchson was reported as a producer, but that does not confirm he will reprise his starring role as 81. No other returning performers have been established.
What might the sequel be about?
Hughes told TheWrap that the sequel would reveal more about the robotic marauders: “you are going to find out.” That is the clearest reported hint about its story so far; specific plot details have not been established.
