When CBS News asked her in November 2024 about a spinoff featuring Beth and Rip, she answered “Yes, please,” then said her focus was on giving Beth a strong ending in the original series. The project that followed is a separately titled show, Dutton Ranch, which Paramount announced with Reilly and Cole Hauser reprising their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. The reporting covered here does not establish a numbered sixth season of Yellowstone.
What Reilly said in 2024
The comment came in a CBS News interview report published November 8, 2024. Reilly was asked about a potential spinoff built around Beth and Rip. Her reply was warm but conditional: “Yes, please,” followed by the point that the main series came first. In her framing, the priority was a powerful close to Beth’s story inside Yellowstone, not a new show.
That split is the source of the “mixed” reaction the headline describes. She was open to more Beth and Rip material, but she did not treat a continuation as settled, and nothing in her 2024 comments announced a season.
How the speculation became Dutton Ranch
The spinoff moved from interview answer to official announcement over the course of 2026. The sequence below uses the dates attached to each source.

How to check the status yourself
- Look for a numbered title in Paramount’s official announcements before assuming a season 6 exists. A season 6 would appear under its own name, not as a reference in an interview.
- Treat the November 2024 comment as early speculation. The official spinoff announcement came later, under a different title.
- Confirm the current episode schedule and streaming availability for Dutton Ranch on the Paramount+ listing, since launch details reflect the announcement.
