Brandy left the stage on October 18, 2025, during the Boy Is Mine Tour stop at the United Center in Chicago. In her own account, she was dehydrated and felt she might faint after weeks of nonstop rehearsals. She later said she tried to return but could not connect sonically with the technical production after adjustments. Monica finished the show. Reporting on the exit does not establish that a renewed feud caused it.
What happened on stage
Brandy left mid-performance and did not return. Monica continued alone and performed “The Boy Is Mine,” the 1998 duet by the two artists that gave the tour its name.
Brandy’s explanation
Brandy apologized in a statement shared the following day. Its central passage, as reproduced by the Los Angeles Times, reads: “After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint.” She added: “Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.”
Dehydration and feeling faint
The health explanation is Brandy’s own description of what she experienced. She said she left the arena and saw a doctor. The reporting does not include a diagnosis, treatment details, or any independent medical confirmation, so these details should be read as her account rather than a verified medical finding.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Sound and the attempt to return
Brandy also said she had decided to try to return to the stage. She said technical adjustments and the production setup made it impossible for her to connect sonically. She presented this alongside her health symptoms, not as a replacement for them, so sound problems should not be treated as the sole reason she left.

The history behind the speculation
Much of the speculation traces back to the pair’s teenage-era conflict. In a June 2025 CBS Mornings interview, as quoted by the Los Angeles Times, Monica said: “There was a lot of confusion and conflict and there was a lot of people around.” She described the older tension as having grown out of that confusion.
That history explains why fans read the walk-off through a rivalry lens, but it is background, not evidence about what happened in October 2025. Claims that the exit followed a fight between the two women are rumor.

Brandy thanked Monica for stepping up and thanked the crew for their care. Monica praised Brandy after their next performance, and Brandy appeared with her in Indianapolis the following night.
For the full context behind the tour and its title, the Brandy and Monica collaboration remains the reference point. The Chicago exit should be read as a health-related departure that Brandy tied to a production problem she could not resolve on stage.
