In the United States, The Housemaid is already streaming. As of October 8, 2026, it is available by subscription on STARZ, and Amazon Prime Video lists it for one-time digital rental or purchase. Outside the US, the answer depends on local catalogs, which can differ and change over time, so check your own country’s listings before you plan to watch.
Where to watch The Housemaid in the United States
There are two confirmed US routes, and they work differently. One requires a subscription. The other is a pay-per-title purchase or rental.
STARZ: subscription streaming
STARZ lists The Housemaid in its official US catalog, with Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Sklenar in the cast. An Associated Press streaming guide from March 2026 also reports the film’s STARZ debut, which lines up with the official listing. If you already subscribe to STARZ, the film is included in that subscription. If you do not, you will need to sign up for STARZ to watch it there.
Prime Video: rent or buy
Amazon’s US Prime Video guide says customers can rent or buy the film, and the film’s own Prime Video title page labels it available to rent or buy. Amazon’s guide sets the rental terms: once you start a rental, you have 30 days to begin watching, and after playback starts you have 48 hours to finish. Prime Video also lists Blu-ray as a format for the film, which is the only physical edition named in the listings reviewed for this article.

How the two US options compare
The right route depends mainly on whether you already pay for STARZ and whether you want to keep the film or watch it once.
| Factor | STARZ | Prime Video rental or purchase |
|---|---|---|
| How you access it | Subscription catalog listing | Pay per title: rent or buy |
| Best fit | Viewers who already subscribe to STARZ or plan to | Viewers who do not subscribe and want one title |
| Ongoing cost | The STARZ subscription price, which this article does not state | Not applicable; you pay once per rental or purchase |
| Viewing window | Subject to STARZ’s catalog terms, which this article does not state | 30 days to start a rental, then 48 hours to finish after playback begins (per Amazon’s US guide) |
| Ownership | No ownership; access depends on the subscription | Purchase keeps a digital copy; Blu-ray is listed as a format |
Theatrical release date
Before the streaming release, The Housemaid played in theaters. Lionsgate’s official trailer description gives the theatrical release date as December 19, 2025. The streaming window opened after that run, and the STARZ and Prime Video listings above are the current US options.
Outside the United States
The availability confirmed here is for the US only. The sources reviewed do not establish worldwide availability on STARZ or Prime Video, and each country’s catalog can differ in both the services offered and the titles included. If you live outside the US, search your local STARZ or Prime Video catalog for the title, or check whether a local service carries the film. Availability can also change after publication, so a title that is not listed in your country today may appear later.

The source material
The film is adapted from Freida McFadden’s novel of the same name, which Amazon identifies as the source. It is a scripted thriller rather than a documentary, so it sits outside this site’s usual documentary catalog. Reading the novel is a separate choice from watching the film. It does not give you access to the movie.
