The available reporting does not substantiate that Ariana Grande and Jim Carrey dated. It documents Grande’s admiration for Carrey and their professional connection on Kidding—but neither fact is evidence of a romance.
What is documented about Grande and Carrey?
Grande admired Carrey
TIME connected Grande’s admiration for Carrey with her album Eternal Sunshine, whose title also recalls Carrey’s starring role in the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. That connection helps explain public interest in the two, but it does not establish a relationship. TIME, March 8, 2024.

They worked together on Kidding
Grande appeared alongside Carrey on Showtime’s Kidding. ABC News/Good Morning America described Carrey as her idol and reported that she called working with him a special experience. Those comments concern their professional relationship, not dating. ABC News/Good Morning America, August 13, 2019.
Where did the dating rumor come from?
A 2024 article in The Tab described the claim as a TikTok rumor and pointed to Grande’s earlier public crush on Carrey as context. The article documents the rumor’s circulation; it does not provide evidence that the pair dated, so it is not independent corroboration. The Tab, December 5, 2024.
