WWE referee Daphanie LaShaunn said four relatives died in a house fire in DeKalb County, Georgia, on February 4, 2026. The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the four people who died as Joseph Thomas, Willie Smith, Maryann Chambers and John Chambers, according to a February 5 report by FOX 5 Atlanta. LaShaunn described the people she lost as her grandmother, grandfather, uncle and cousin; the available reports do not match each relationship to a specific name.
What happened in the Winthrop Drive fire?
Firefighters responded to a home on Winthrop Drive in DeKalb County just before midnight on Wednesday, February 4, FOX 5 Atlanta reported the next morning. The fire killed four people. FOX 5 reported that seven people, including five children, escaped. The outlet also relayed a family account that Willie “Junior” Smith went back into the home to try to help others and did not return. That account is attributed to family members quoted by FOX 5, not to an official determination of how the fire began.

Support for the displaced family
In a February 6 report, ProWrestling.net described immediate needs including clothing and other items for the displaced family; it reported that the cousin’s five children ranged in age from one to eleven. Those details describe needs reported at that time, not a current assessment.
A February 22 follow-up by Wrestleview reported that LaShaunn thanked the wrestling community and said the family had received clothes and school supplies, the funeral had been paid for, and her cousin had been set up. This is a dated update, not confirmation of the family’s present circumstances or a current fundraising total.
