The studio has confirmed the film’s central setup and key filmmakers; no reliable source identified here establishes what Lee said about it.
What is confirmed about Beyond the Spider-Verse?
Sony Pictures Animation’s official film page gives the current theatrical release date as June 18, 2027. That is the announced schedule, not a guarantee; release dates can change. Sony’s News page also repeats the date in its CinemaCon announcement.
Sony’s synopsis puts Miles Morales at the center of a pursuit: Miguel O’Hara’s Spider Society is hunting him, and friends have betrayed him. Miles travels across time and space to find a way home while trying to protect and reunite his family. The studio has not used that synopsis to disclose further plot specifics.
Who is making the film?
Sony credits Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson as directors. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh are producers; Lord, Miller, and David Callaham are the credited writers.

What did Greta Lee tease?
The specific statement implied by the headline is not substantiated by the available reporting. GamesRadar+ includes Lee in its broader cast coverage, but that does not establish that she made a particular comment or reveal what it might have been. Without the original interview, event, or other reliable source, attributing a tease to Lee would go beyond what has been confirmed.
A separate set of remarks sometimes associated with news about the film came from director Bob Persichetti, not Lee. Forbes Europe reports that at a Crunchyroll Anime Future Forum panel moderated by Sony Pictures Animation president Kristine Belson, Persichetti said: “Expectations are kind of limitless and we have to try to meet them.” That comment describes the challenge of following the earlier films; it is not a Greta Lee tease or a disclosure about a specific plot point.

How does the story follow Across the Spider-Verse?
Beyond the Spider-Verse follows the prior film’s cliffhanger. GamesRadar+ describes that ending as leaving Miles on Earth-42, where he encounters an alternate version of himself. That context helps explain why the official synopsis emphasizes Miles’s effort to get home, but the studio’s published synopsis does not confirm additional details about the alternate world or how the story will resolve.
If you want a refresher before the sequel, GamesRadar+ recommends revisiting Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Its cliffhanger is the immediate starting point for the next chapter.
