Spoilers for the ending of The Union follow. The film’s final action sequence does more than stop a sale of stolen intelligence: its rooftop fall, gunplay, fights and car chase show Mike McKenna and Roxanne Hall relying on each other as partners. Director Julian Farino described that teamwork as a deliberate part of the rooftop choreography.
What happens in the final action sequence?
Nick Faraday, whom Roxanne believed was dead, has survived and betrayed the Union. He and Juliet Quinn intend to sell Union intelligence. Mike McKenna and Roxanne pursue them, stop the sale and recover the information, bringing the espionage plot to a close.
The final act moves through rooftop action, a fall into gunplay, fights, a car chase and a showdown. Netflix’s ending explainer highlights the last-ditch pursuit and car chase; an interview with director Julian Farino describes the action as a sequence blending those elements with banter and confrontation.
Why the rooftop action matters
Farino said he wanted to use rooftops because they offered a visually distinctive setting with the sea in view. He also explained that the fall from the roof into gunplay was meant to show Mike and Roxanne depending on one another and having each other’s backs at a crucial moment. The choreography therefore serves both the plot and the pair’s renewed connection.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That emotional payoff fits the contrast established earlier in the film: Mike is an unlikely recruit with an everyday background, while Roxanne is an experienced Union operative. The betrayal by Nick—someone she had believed dead—forces the two leads to act as a team when the stakes become personal as well as professional.
What Berry and Wahlberg said about performing the action
Wahlberg said Berry’s encouragement helped persuade him to take part in more stunts himself. Farino praised Berry’s ability to learn fight choreography quickly. Netflix’s explainer notes that the final action scene was easier for Wahlberg than his earlier sparring with Berry.

Those comments establish that Wahlberg participated in some stunts and that Berry learned choreography quickly; they do not mean either actor performed every stunt. The available interviews do not provide a complete, beat-by-beat account of who performed each move.

Berry describes the fictional organization this way: “The Union does the dirty work for the CIA and FBI.” She also calls its members “really just average people, and that’s what makes them so different.” These are descriptions of the film’s imagined spy network, not claims about a real government unit.
