Netflix’s character biography says Rumi’s father was a demon she never knew, while its lore guide describes Gwi-Ma as the demon leader. Those facts make the theory possible to imagine, but they do not confirm a family connection.
What does KPop Demon Hunters confirm about Rumi’s father?
Netflix Tudum’s Rumi biography says that her mother died shortly after her birth and that her father was a demon whom she never knew. The biography does not give him a name or identify him as Gwi-Ma.
Netflix’s oral history of “Golden” describes the song as revealing Rumi’s secret: she is half demon. That confirms her heritage as a major part of the story, but it does not reveal who her demon father is.
Who is Gwi-Ma?
Netflix’s official lore guide describes Gwi-Ma as the demon leader. The Saja Boys work to undermine HUNTR/X and weaken the Honmoon. The guide does not say that Gwi-Ma fathered Rumi.

Sony Pictures Animation’s official project description presents HUNTR/X as K-pop stars who secretly protect their fans as demon hunters. It supports the film’s hunter-versus-demon premise, not a specific answer about Rumi’s parentage.
Why do fans think Gwi-Ma could be Rumi’s father?
The theory joins two separate story facts: Rumi’s father was a demon, and Gwi-Ma is a powerful demon leader. That makes him a conceivable candidate, but shared demon status is not evidence of parentage. The official sources cited here do not connect him to Rumi as her father.

There is also no official evidence in these sources for a motive, secret plan, or deliberate father-daughter relationship. Treat those ideas as speculation unless the film or later official material confirms them.
