Billie Eilish and Justin Bieber have a warm public friendship and a professional connection, but the available reporting does not establish that they have ever been a couple. Eilish was a longtime Bieber fan before they met at Coachella in 2019; later that year, they collaborated on a remix of her song “Bad Guy.” Bieber spoke publicly about supporting her in 2020, and they shared another memorable Coachella moment in 2026.
What is known about their relationship?
The public record supports a story of a longtime fan meeting her idol, then becoming his peer and collaborator. Eilish and Bieber have spoken and acted warmly toward one another in public, but those interactions are not evidence of a romantic relationship. The sources cited here do not establish that they have dated; they also cannot settle every detail of either person’s private life.

How their connection developed
Before they met: Eilish was a fan
Eilish admired Bieber when she was growing up. Vogue reported that her childhood bedroom had been covered with pictures of him, and British Vogue also described him among her celebrity influences. Vogue’s 2020 profile and British Vogue’s account of her influences put their later connection in context: Eilish was already a devoted fan before she became a globally known artist herself.
April 2019: They meet at Coachella
Their first reported meeting took place at Coachella in April 2019, while Eilish was watching Ariana Grande perform. Vogue reported that Eilish was 17 and Bieber was 25. Eilish later described how nervous she had been about the possibility of running into him. Recalling the weekend to James Corden, she said, “For all Coachella weekend, I was like, ‘Don’t surprise me with Justin Bieber. I can’t take it. I can’t have to do this show and Justin Bieber’s going to be there,’” as quoted by the Los Angeles Times.
#1 Best Overall
- Billie Eilish's third studio album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, released via Darkroom/Interscope Records is her most daring body of work to date, a diverse yet cohesive collection of songs - ideally listened to in its entirety from beginning to end - does exactly as the album title suggests; hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically, while bending genres and defying trends along the way
July 2019: They collaborate on “Bad Guy”
Bieber joined Eilish for a remix of “Bad Guy” in July 2019. It was a musical collaboration between two artists, not proof of a romantic relationship. British Vogue’s account of Eilish’s influences also notes the remix: British Vogue.
February 2020: Bieber describes his support for her
In an Apple Music interview, Bieber discussed his friendship with Eilish and the pressures of growing up in the public eye. Teen Vogue reported that he said he wanted to protect her from some of the difficulties he had faced as a young star. “I just want to protect her, you know? I don’t want her to lose it, I don’t want her to go through anything I went through. I don’t wish that upon anybody,” he said. He added, “So, if she ever needs me, I’m just a call away.” Those comments convey concern and support; they do not establish that the two were dating. Teen Vogue reported the interview on February 15, 2020.

April 2026: Eilish joins Bieber onstage at Coachella
Their fan-to-friend story had another public moment when Eilish joined Bieber onstage during his second Coachella weekend set in April 2026. The Atlantic covered the performance, and CinemaBlend reported Eilish’s description of the “One Less Lonely Girl” moment as overwhelming, noting that she had been in the crowd with Hailey Bieber and friends. The appearance renewed attention on their connection, but a stage moment is not evidence of a change in their private relationship status. See The Atlantic’s coverage and CinemaBlend’s account of Eilish’s reaction.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the relationship rumors persist
The story has several details that can invite speculation: Eilish was intensely starstruck when she met Bieber, they later worked together, Bieber spoke protectively about her, and they appeared together onstage years later. Each detail has a straightforward public explanation—fan admiration, a music collaboration, supportive remarks, and a performance. None, alone or together, confirms a romance.
Rank #3
- Billie Eilish releases her highly anticipated sophomore album, Happier Than Ever, via Darkroom/Interscope Records
It is also important not to mistake affectionate or protective language for a romantic declaration. Bieber’s 2020 remarks were framed as friendship and concern about the pressures of fame. Likewise, Eilish’s excitement at meeting a childhood idol reflects her fan history; it does not prove romantic interest.
