Dune: Prophecy takes viewers 10,000 years before Paul Atreides, to the beginnings of the Sisterhood that will become the Bene Gesserit. Its official trailer sets up a struggle over the Sisterhood’s growing influence and a threat to humanity, with a prophecy-linked enemy at the center of the danger.
What the trailer sets up
The official series description presents the Sisterhood as a force working in the shadows to guide events across the universe. Sky’s synopsis adds the central conflict: Harkonnen sisters Valya and Tula confront forces threatening humanity as they help establish the sect that becomes the Bene Gesserit. Together, those descriptions frame the story as both a fight against an immediate danger and a contest over who gets to shape humanity’s future.
The official descriptions identify an enemy linked to prophecy, but they do not provide a scene-by-scene account of the trailer. The clearest supported takeaway is the premise: the early Sisterhood’s influence is growing, and a powerful threat challenges that influence as well as humanity itself.
When and where the series premiered
The trailer was released on 17 October 2024. Premiere dates differed by territory: HBO Max announced a US premiere on Max for 17 November 2024, while Sky announced an 18 November 2024 premiere for the UK and Ireland on Sky Atlantic and NOW. Sky said the six episodes would arrive on Mondays. These are historical launch dates; check local listings for current viewing availability.

What to know about the Sisterhood and its inspiration
The story follows Valya and Tula Harkonnen as they become involved with the Sisterhood in the distant past of the Dune universe. The series is inspired by Sisterhood of Dune, the novel by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. “Inspired by” is the important distinction: the official description does not claim the show is a direct, scene-for-scene adaptation of the book.

Sky identifies Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen, Olivia Williams as Tula Harkonnen, and Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart. Alison Schapker is the showrunner and an executive producer; the series is co-produced by HBO and Legendary Television.
