Is The Roses a remake of The War of the Roses?
Searchlight describes the film as a “reimagining” of the 1989 film The War of the Roses, which was based on Warren Adler’s novel. That wording establishes the connection without claiming that the 2025 film is a scene-for-scene remake. The sources establish the lineage and new creative team, but do not provide enough detail for a reliable scene-by-scene comparison with either the earlier film or Adler’s book.
When did The Roses come out?
Release dates were market-specific. Searchlight’s April 2025 trailer metadata announced US theaters for August 29, 2025. The 20th Century Studios Australia/New Zealand page lists September 4, 2025 for those markets.
