The full trailer for The Boys Season 5 sets up a final clash between Homelander, who is after the original V compound, and Butcher, who plans to unleash a virus designed to kill Supes. The fifth season is the series’ last—and, as of October 8, 2026, all of it is available to stream on Prime Video.
What does The Boys Season 5 trailer set up?
Ars Technica’s March 5, 2026 report on the full trailer describes two opposing plans driving the final conflict: Homelander seeks the original V compound, which could make him immortal, while Butcher pursues a Supe-specific virus. Those are stakes presented in trailer coverage, not confirmation here of how the story resolves.
The official Prime Video teaser gives the conflict a wider backdrop. Its description places Homelander in control, ruling according to his whims. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp”; Annie is struggling to organize resistance; and Kimiko is missing. Butcher returns with the virus plan, which the teaser describes as capable of wiping Supes off the map.
Sony Pictures’ official synopsis likewise frames the final season around Homelander controlling America through fascist terror and Butcher, Hughie, Annie, and the rest of The Boys mounting resistance. The teaser and the full trailer are separate promotional materials: the teaser description outlines the group’s situation, while the full-trailer report foregrounds the opposing V-compound and virus plans.
