Sydney Sweeney said her father and grandfather watched Euphoria without telling her, then turned it off and walked out. She did not identify one specific scene as the reason they left.
What happened when Sweeney’s family watched Euphoria?
In a 2023 interview with Willie Geist for Sunday TODAY, Sweeney said her father watched the series with his parents without her knowledge. She recalled: “My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out.” TheWrap reported the anecdote on June 4, 2023.
Why did they walk out?
Sweeney said she had not prepared her father for the show: “I didn’t prepare my dad at all.” Her mother, by contrast, had visited the set and knew the story. The accounts characterize the family as unprepared for the series’ mature content, but they do not establish which moment prompted the walkout. The Los Angeles Times’ June 5, 2023 account likewise describes the family’s reaction without naming a triggering scene.
Was there a particular Euphoria scene?
The available reports do not name an episode or a specific scene. So although Sweeney recounted that her father and grandfather stopped watching and left, it would be inaccurate to claim that a particular scene has been identified as the cause.

What does “couldn’t keep a straight face” refer to?
That wording is not supported by the accounts of Sweeney’s anecdote cited above. They report what happened when her family watched the show, not that she struggled to keep a straight face while recounting it.
