Comedy Central postponed the South Park episode scheduled for September 17, 2025, to September 24 after creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone said they had not finished it in time. “This one’s on us,” they said. The delay was specific to that episode, not the separate season 27 premiere-date change announced in July 2025.
Why was the September 2025 South Park episode delayed?
Parker and Stone said the episode was not completed by its scheduled air date. In a September 17, 2025 announcement, Comedy Central quoted them: “Apparently when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you don’t get it done,” followed by, “This one’s on us. We didn’t get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central and South Park fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week!” Comedy Central’s announcement did not give a more specific production explanation or quantify what caused the missed deadline.
When was the delayed episode scheduled to air?
Comedy Central moved the episode from Wednesday, September 17, to Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The announcement also listed later 2025 episode dates: October 15, October 29, November 12, November 26, and December 10. Those dates are part of the schedule announced in September 2025, not upcoming air dates. The release said new episodes would be available on Paramount+ and On Demand with a TV provider after their premiere.
How the delay differs from the July 2025 premiere change
The September delay was not the same event as the season 27 premiere-date change announced on July 2, 2025. In its separate post, South Park Studios reported the change and quoted Parker and Stone criticizing the merger affecting the show: “This merger is a shitshow and it’s fucking up South Park. We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.” That statement concerned the premiere-date shift; in September, the creators attributed the one-week episode delay to not finishing the episode in time.

What the later season 29 announcement said
For dated context, South Park Studios announced on May 19, 2026, that season 29 would premiere September 16, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central. Its announced additional dates were September 30, October 14, October 28, November 11, and November 25. The announcement said episodes would stream on Paramount+ around the world, with next-day availability in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
